My sister has never ever suffered acid reflux or gerd, yet she's just been diagnosed with Barrett's Esophogus, a 7cm precancerous tumor... My cousin Pete's Adrenal cancer has spread to his lungs.... Noreen totally crying....
Oh, Jane, I KNOW, in both my heart and mind, but when you get that kind of news on top of all the rest... it's just overwhelming. I heard about Pete's (my cousin) Adrenal 'spread' about 30 minutes before I heard about my sister.... Hugs, Noreen
Aww, Mary, thank you! I'm better now, it's just that these newsflashes came within 30 minutes of each other... and I'm a softie... and it just HIT me... (I had to hide out in my studio till I was fairly composed before I could tell Don.... this being strong is HARD on me!) Hugs, Noreen who's thankful to be able to let go, whine and vent here!
As you know, I'll be praying for both of them too, along with Don and you. You sure have had enough this year and don't need any more bad news. Just keep your chin up, things will get better.
Noreen, I am glad that we are here for you. Please unload whenever you feel that you have to. And know that we will be here to support you and give you strength.
My gosh, Nora, it really HAS been a year to remember! Here's the breakdown" Don's lymphoma cousin Eileen's breast cancer nephew Linden's lymphoma cousin Pete's adrenal cancer cousin Fran's bladder cancer Nan's health issues and now this Barrett's esophogus thing. Mom's health issues, and now cataracts too... ... calgon, take me awayyyyyyyyyy! Hugs, Noreen
Oh Noreen, I'm so sorry to hear that. And that list you posted of your entire family - it is scary that so many are hit from one family. I just have to ask, do you all live near one another? Or did you at one time? When you see such a big list like that you have to start wondering about environmental factors. I'm sorry if that seems insensitive, but I couldn't help but wonder.
Anyway, I will be thinking of you all. Cry all you want, dear, we will be here to listen.
Noreen, I am so sorry to hear of your family's health problems. I will add them to my prayers.
Meanwhile, I don't know if you have looked any of this stuff up (you likely have, knowing you), but I just found a few pages on Barrett's Esophogus/hiatal hernia. The first two I looked at suggested not to panic and to get a second opinion and also a recheck in one year. Anyway... I won't ramble on about what I read... I'll just put the URLs here for you to read yourself.

hope some of this helps, even a little.
*hugs* Gem
Thanks, Gem! Nan and I 'both' have been looking for more info... her being an RN AND very smart, but digestive is NOT her specialty... cardiology and emergency are her forte`... Thanks again! Noreen
Hi Laura! No, not insensitive at ALL, a very PRACTICAL query, one we've thought of as well! Eileen lived in northern WI all her life. Pete and Fran lived in the UP of MI all their lives. Nan, born in IL, lived in central WI most of her life. Don, born in central WI, lived in central WI most of his life. Hugs, Noreen
Well, it sounds like everyone's far enough away that you can rule out environmental factors which is a relief, though not one that helps you out, of course. I will continue thinking of you all and hoping for the best recovery possible.
