Wish me well

I'm getting ready to call it quits for the day today. Tomorrow I'm teaching a 3 hour class at Ben Franklin. We are doing a double row RAW bracelet with Swarovski crystals.

I drew diagrams as well as I could and I've tried to spell everything out but............ My students are very much novices. I did request that they either have taken my single row bracelet class or understand basic RAW.

I've only been teaching over there since September and the beadweaving frenzy is really picking up steam. The nice thing about having lost my full time job last March is that I can teach over there without alot of job conflicts. I'm working PT at a local department store but since the holidays are over I only get one or two days a week. I have to adnit that I kind of like it. The pay (or lack of it) sucks but it's a job with flexible hours. I'm also VERY much involved with the EGA and they keep me busy as well.

Well, cross your fingers for me and send my students good vibes. Good night all!

Well, it was a looooooooooooooong class. Although I'd requested that the students either have already taken my first RAW class or understand the technique, most of the ladies didn't seem to remember how to do it. The class was supposed to run from 1 until 4. I left right before 6 - and promised them I'd set up a date that they could come back in and I'd give them additional help. Yes, at my expense.

The only studsent who got it (and with very little help) was an eighth grader named Shelby. She just looked at it and it made sense to her. Bless your yound little heart. She suggested I make custom-made jewelry for prom attendees. They tell me what color their gown is and I make them chokers or what have you to match with crystals. I just might do that.

I hope you all had a more peaceful day than I did. I think I'm calling it quits early tonight. I'm pooped!

Passing through again ...

I find I have to review RAW every time I use that stitch. There is something conceptually about it that my mind just doesn't bend itself around. It's a useful stitch though - my aunt used to use it a lot for her Xmas ornaments.

Those young fresh brains are great to teach. I taught my niece peyote at Xmas and I was amazed at how fast she picked it up.
