First sort of success!

Today I finished the first cat mat patchwork. Yippee! Well, sort of - the news from Japan depress me no end. But that's another story. I finished joining all the tiny pieces - obviously it's a stamp quilt. It's a bit smaller than I had calculated; I had to - uh, square things off a bit. It's not as exact as one might wish for but most squares join in a little cross. The back looks neat, too: I opened the seams in the seam allowances and spread them into little 'windmills'. I have to give it a wider border than I intended to make it fit the windowsill, but that's ok; perhaps black, then the colours will come out nicely.

What's next? Do I have to fuse something onto the back or is it batting, back and then quilt it?

U. - bedtime here, I just had to share.
