I just finished a challenging project, I struggled with the fabric. I probably needed to fire up the old White upholstery machine, but the last time I tried the motor was dead.

That is stunning!! The colors are real eye candy.
Second that stunning remark. What lovely work , by both of you.
Her living room and dining room both have lots of those colors.
I have just aired out (stored in mothballs for over 45 years) a bunch of my mother's unused crewel kits and yarn, DD wants to finish many of them. I am so happy they will get worked. I used to love to do crewel, but I cannot any more.
Thanks. DD does beautiful knitting and hand embrodiery. I was not successful in passing along sewing skills to her, so I am delighted she does those well.
That's really lovely. A true labor of love.
Yes, it was, by both of us. ;-)
That is really pretty! And how excellently worked! I didn't try crewel yet, but I felt strongly attracted by it ever since I first saw it and knew what it was. When I was in some English town with a - friend... Well, he was working and I had lots of time to go sightseeing, so I visited a house from Elizabethan times. There was an original canopy bed with reconstructed crewel curtains - loved it!
Anyway, even if you weren't able to pass on your sewing skills, she does have a tendency towards textiles, so no reason to feel a fail. The Gift doesn't always take the same form. ;-)
U.
You should really try it! Back when I was doing crewel, I was amazed with all the different stitches used. Some are very challenging, all are beautiful:
:-D
