Book bragging

Hi! I was asked to write a glossary for a friend's latest quilting book. The book is due out on April 12 but last night the publisher let us know that they are going to also do an e-book download version that is on sale starting today. So, I'm here to brag that I'm sort of published :-)

The book is Rotary Cutting Revolution by Anita Grossman Solomon. She has some very clever methods for cutting out all the pieces for a block without any waste. It is especially nice for when blocks call for odd sized triangles and such that used to require a template. There is even a method for cutting out all the pieces for a pineapple block in ten cuts.

The book is available through C&T publishing

And next month it will be in the quilt shops too.

Thanks for letting me brag! marcella

That's awesome Marcella! I've seen Anita on Simply Quilts and her cutting methods are great. I think the hardest thing is to overcome old habits and adopt her more efficient and logical methods. I'll certainly look for the book! Congrats!

Thanks :-). I'll be sure to take a look at it.

When I brought up her method in the other thread (Baffled by cutting mat), I had no idea that she was coming out with a new book.

Congratulations on your part in that undertaking :-).

She's been working on this a very long time. It's exciting that it's finally happening.

The first two are on her paper piecing method. She "explodes" the block rather then cutting it up into separate segments to piece and then join for the final block. In her method, the separate segments are just separated by 1/2". That way when you piece you can simply do the segments and then fold the paper together and join the segments. That way there is truly no matching at all to worry about.

This third book is cutting techniques. While she does generally paper piece her blocks it's not strictly necessary. So both assembly options are in this book. It's the cutting in this one that is the subject.
