Trying to save my Magic Mill

I have a Magic Mill II. It gets real hot. I took the motor to a motor guy, who ran it and was surprised at how hot it got in a short time. I figured it was the bearing. Now he tells me that the bearing can't be replaced (I can't imagine why, but I believe him, I guess) and he is also pretty sure that the heating is not due to the bearing but to a short in the motor. (I'm not so sure I believe him here, because I could definitely hear the bearing making noise when I turned it by hand; also, I'm pretty sure it's louder than it used to be.)

So what can I do? I would like to save this mill and not have to buy a new one. Or at least get together with somebody who has one with something else wrong and maybe we can work out a deal.

My understanding is that this mill is no longer manufactured.

Thanks much for any ideas, advice, assistance of any kind.

Dont know about this particular model, but in general, the motor is precision balanced when put together, and depending on what you have to open to get to the bearing, you might not be easily able to align the stator and the rotor back together again. That might be what the "motor guy" meant.

I would recommend that this be a last step, right before setting it in the garbage can...
