Sorry Rebecca, I live in Central Iowa. I wish I did live closer as I have an easy way to completely do bindings by machine-much, much easier to show in person than to write about!
I hope that the books and websites are of help to you. I think that the best instructions for finishing a binding come from Fons & Porter. They have a laminated card that gives step by step instrucions. so that you don't end up with a lump when finishing off the ends. The laminated card is sold in quilt shops, and could possibly be available in a Joann's or Hancock fabrics store too.
One tip that I'll give you that most sites don't talk about is that it's a good idea to use a walking foot to apply your binding. You will be sewing through 5 layers of fabric, and it can shift on you! Good luck!
