Yeh, our customs in NZ will fine you even if you got the fruit from the plane on your person when you go through!! Bit over the top, methinks. Why can't they just throw it out??

And most of those importers are Mom and Pop stores, not big bucks, or even big enough to form a decent sized lobby or coalition.

Yes. I thought that was strange to. A rogue element is more likely to come from angry individuals, than an established food processor. Maybe it's the shrub's attempt to make Americans unified and homogenized.

In my justice class that was used as an example to show that corporate murder goes unpunished, but God help you if you're poor and you take something or hit someone.

I'm staying in today. Yesterday Keith was sweet enough to drive me into Ben Franklin Crafts (about 3 miles?) when he got home from work so that I could drop off two class models (an Ndebele bracelt and a brick stitch patch for a techniques class). He offered - I didn't ask. He's such a sweet man - I'm gonna get him drunk and drag him off to a JP in Virginia. (The problem is that he doesn't drink and would recognize the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. DRAT!)
Imagine the headache.
That doesn't sound too hard but it's another step and another way of tracking who is sending what to who. That probably bothers me more than anyone else.
I wonder why the UK is going over and beyond...
Please give me warning next time, Tina!
No it is not us. It is in USA where they would destroy it. As far as I know our parcels are not checked going out of the country. Unless it is for drugs.
The number we get comes from an American base not UK. I think.
It is your customs regulations we are complying with not ours.
All ours do is place a heavy Vat fine of 17.5% plus import duty plus a charge of about 7.50GBP for putting the two other charges on when it comes to us.
I shall still be able to get my peeps and onion and mushroom soup mixes. LOL Shirley

I see, thanks for the clarification on that, Shirley.
And I still can get chocolates if anyone wants to be bothered! :=) Let me know when you want to swap!

**grin** not that i know of. the fireman would probably do it, if you wanted to pay his plane fare. he loves doing weddings.----------- @vicki [SnuggleWench] (Books)
Unfortunately wasn't altogether kidding. I keep seeing our freedoms eroded and pressure being put on us to all be the same. And of course to think the same -- the same as he does.

Hey, if he can get ordained online and get to Virginia on Mar 12 at the Williamsburg Hospitality House. Meet me in front of the fireplace. At least he can carry my poor unsuspecting Keith down the elevator! Fireman's carry and all of that. :-)
