It's not the blood work or the waiting period. It's more the desire to just do it with as little muss and fuss as possible.
I have to be in Wmsburg in March. Keith took me there for my 40th birthday and we loved it there. We have a phenomenal room rate at the hotel and we wouldn't have to worry about offending family for not inviting anyone. Something private and quick. I heard that Virginia has no waiting period and started teasing Keith about getting married there. Well, the time is fast approaching and since he had a heart attack last August I've become more concerned about my legal standing in his health care. As his fiance, I could be tossed out of the hospital - if they wanted to. (Fortunately the hospital was wonderful, but I think they assumed I was his wife and I never correct anyone for that assumption.) I'm not concerned about insurance, the house, cars, whatever. And it doesn't help that I'm old-fashioned enough to want a marriage license. We've been together for almost 11 years and living together for the last 3½ years. It's time. ;-)
