on November 16, after he finished his optician's exam [which he passed], Johnny met me at the bead show. while we were walking around, he decided that he wanted to buy beads for me for my birthday [that day]. in our travels around the room, Johnny became fascinated talking to George O'Grady. George had quite a line of "patter" going, which i recognized as coming from a relatively shy person who goes into his "act" when he's showing his wares, as it is something my dad taught me to do for the same reasons.
at any rate, Johnny had all KINDS of questions, since he works with a different kind of glass entirely. George answered all of his questions and then some. and Johnny decided i should pick some of George's beads for my gift from him. Johnny could only afford two beads, but George told him if he wanted to pay with cash instead of his credit card [thereby saving the credit card charges] he would sell him three beads for the price of two. so, Johnny ran the two blocks to his bank, got the cash, came back and picked out the beads.
they've been sitting on my desk ever since. since i've been too sick today to work, i decided it was time to make them up . . .
