Cheri, The taste thing is common with chemo. I remember it well. There are so many new things happening almost daily in cancer treatment that there are lots of options available.
Try these sites and make sure your doc is up on what is current. (I have no idea why this is red.)

Ed ate those too, they were really important to keep his weight up.
They made some in frozen milkshake versions that were great, he loved those. Since you can't have anything cold, they'd still be good thawed like chocolate milk.

Cheri,
I am sending you all the vibes I have!
If the doctor thinks there are things to try then it's good to wait and see. I went through this with my first husband, he had testicular cancer at 24, and the chemo was rough but it worked. He had another 17 years added to his life with all the chemo and surgery.
Positive thoughts in your own mind and heart will be the biggest help to keep yourself going. Don't give up, and don't let those around you give up either. The body can sense all those thoughts. Good vibes are coming your way from all around the world.
I will think of you constantly.

Oran and i make casseroles - heat them - and then put them through the blender with added milk, for Grace, so she can drink them through a straw. she actually likes them, and it varies her diet. [she has Parkinson's and has a lot of difficulty swallowing. we've managed to get her weight up by FIVE pounds in the last month. which is GOOD.
You are in my daily prayers, Cheri. I think of you every day. Stay positive, I really believe it helps. Marisa AU/NZ

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Cheri}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Oh my god....That's so scary. I'm hoping the enxt wave of treatment works for this particular cancer....sometimes that's how it goes, the first one strikes out, the second one NAILS it! I'm praying this is what happens in your case. I'm holding your hand, sweetie. SMOOCHES ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce

When my mother in law was ill with cancer, I used to make her Risotto, which she hadn't had since her childhood, and Pea Soup (beefed up with cream for calories and flavor). These worked especially well for her, because the doctors had knocked out most of her teeth with the endotrachial tube she needed during her mastectomy.
Both dishes were tasty when warm or at room temperature, and were easy to eat without teeth. I also made lots of eggnog (with cream) and banana frappes (milkshakes to the rest of you), which Barbara likes at room temperature as well.
If anyone wants/needs recipes, just shout. I'd be happy to type them up - I know how difficult it can be to find tasty food when you're not feeling well.

Kathy, any time you can do it and NOT be in pain, i know Oran would love to know!
keeping Grace from starving to death slowly has become a major project for us.
Oh Cheri, I'm so sorry! That's terrible to hear. I will continue to think of you and send healing vibes your way, and I hope the pain stays away.

my dad had a constant metallic taste after his chemo. he had chemo only once before he died, and during the ensuing 3 weeks the only thing he could "eat" were slushes and bananas.
we knew the chemo must have really affected him when he wouldn't eat the shrimp cocktail that my sister brought him for easter dinner.
it saddens me that a man who enjoyed good food so much, that his last meal was a cherry slush!!! LOL!
