Just talked to my Aunt and Uncle, who have just returned from the hospital. Oma seems to be doing better. She is out of her coma, and her kidney has begun producing urine again. Her blood sugar level (which was sky high) is back to normal. Her heart is still weak, and she's still sedated, but that beat up old heart is still beating. The docs are telling us that she's still ultra-critical, but they think she's going to pull through this one.
Opa will be going tomorrow to see her, which should be exceptionally helpful to both of them. I've been strongly arguing that they shouldn't be kept apart after so long together, and thank God, it seems to be getting through to my aunts and uncles.
I'm still preparing as if I have to make an emergency trip to Germany, but I am a lot more optimistic that it will be all right. When I see my doctor on Monday, I'll talk to him about making a non-emergency trip to Germany in a month to cheer Oma on her birthday. We would take DD with us for such a trip, so that Oma could see her oldest great-grandchild. Oma and Opa are requesting that I go for an appearance, since they haven't seen me in nearly three years. I cannot deny them that request.
I am overwhelmed at the power of you guys' vibes. I know you all wanted to spare me this trip, and it appears you have. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
