OT I'm baaaaaaaaack!

I'm finally back in my own place after Hurricane Frances. My power was off from Saturday 9/4 until Friday 9/10 at midnight (thank you, Florida Plunder and Loot).

Got the 3 cats and the bird back home last night after an hour of trying to catch Myler More (the 20lb kitty) who was hiding under the couch, safely out of reach. Finally, after catching him and losing several pints of blood in the process, I got to listen to two cats howling and a bird squawking for the 40 minute ride home.

It feels SO good to be back in my own place with all my stuff and my own little bed. There truly is no place like home.

I have to go back to the podiatrist tomorrow. The squicky pokey shot only lasted one day. He wants to give me another shot. Apparently, he wants me to hurt him. He also wants to immobilize the foot and put me on crutches since the flex-extend exercises, ice, shoe inserts, night splint and the squicky pokey cortisone shot haven't helped.

It's good to be back.

I didn't remember the topic of this thread and thought you meant 7 shots of liquor to get rid of the foot pain...LOL

Foot shots have to be the worst of all time. I'll take shots in the head first which are no walk in the park. There is something about nerve endings in hands and feet that just kill me when getting shots. No one ever said I was right in the head though.

It is good to have you back all in one piece even if you are a bit scratched. Shirley

Thanks, Sooz. I told him no shots, so he gave me a script for Medrol for 10 days (cortisone in pill form) and also a referral for physical therapy.

Be careful with that Medrol. That's the brand name of Prednisone - the drug I've been on forever. Expect for the drug to kick in at about 48 hours after your first dose. You'll know by a couple of things: extreme hunger, serious bitchiness, the jitters and hopefully, a reduction in pain.

If you are unable to sleep while on Medrol, contact your doctor. Do not discontinue the medication abruptly - the chance of life threatening side effects is rare while only on a ten day taper, but it's still there.

I hope it helps you, and that the foot pain never returns.

When I got bit by a dog in April, I had to have 5 stitches in my pinkie finger. The shot of novacaine that they gave me in that finger was by far the worst pain I have ever had in my life. Worse than childbirth! Worse than broken bones! I can only imagine a shot in the foot would be just as bad!

Yep they are pretty bad. I had a planters wart in the bottom of my foot that extended in-between two toes. They numbed it up to laser the planter thing out. They went so deep I could feel the laser. I can tell you the shots were much worse.
