Thought I'd share a link that my dad, the obsessed mineral collector, gave me to a cool website set up by a friend of his, Robert Dietrich, who is a retired geology professor at Michigan University - the website is still in process, not all the links are working yet, and most of the writing style/vocabulary is "scholarly", which makes for some heavy reading - but there's a wealth of information here (maybe more than I want to know!), with some "lore" and some wonderful pictures! According to my dad, Mr Deitrich has published numerous books, and is one of the "premier" experts in this stuff, and the photographer Jeffery Scovil is also well known in the mineral collecting world
