Well, my horse is at the ranch. He's BEAUTIFUL. The seller sez he's a quarter horse, (we've not got the papers on him yet, with his med records etc, but they're coming)..but he has a very dishy arabian-like head, and ...well... he's just beautiful!
I *get* to go today to buy some wormer (be still my beginner heart) and on Thursday I'm going to the ranch and be there while he's cut. He's been kept in a pretty bad situation, in a stall with no turn out except when the family rode him, and the manure in the stall was pretty high (ick). So, now he's in an outside stall, with all the other horses nearby, and he's kinda full of himself at present. Our trainer and one of the jockey students rode him, and they say he's smart and responds very well to their cues. He did let me feed him carrots, but when the horse next to him came over to see if he too could get a carrot, he didn't like it much. No nipping or kicking, just a little rearing and calling out.
Then two jockey students went in to halter him and treat an injury he's got to his knee, and he calmed right down, started licking his lips while his boo-boo was being massaged, and darn near fell asleep while they were working on him.
I HAVE MY FIRST HORSE!!!!!!! (omg!!)
