We missed you, too.

I"m doing OK - we've been w/o a babysitter for almost 3 weeks now, so it's been kinda crazy trying to work and watch an 18-month old. We've found some girls to start this week, but I think we may resort to the daycare thing after the first of the year if we can find a place nearby that we like.

I'm doing well. Life is forcing more than I can handle on me right now. But I've kind of gotten used to that. Things get out of hand, but since I can't do it no matter what, I can instead forgive myself. So it's OK.

For the last two weeks the birds have been scarfing up the seeds like crazy. And it's been freezing for the last week or more. Except for last night, because of rain. One group of birds have left already, another type of little brown birds (LBBs, as the birders call them) are still here, as well as the chickadees, who stay all winter.

Yesterday, a friend brought a "girl" (about 26 now) over to our house. Adult Child of Alcoholic. Married at 17 to one of these guys who keeps tape recorders on to snoop on her throughout the day. A little while back she lost her job, her car, her house, her kids and her mom died of liver failure at 47. Looks on the verge of fugue state. And she beads. I hope to see more of her.

Are you well and safe? I always worry when "one of us" goes underground.

Barbara can totally relate- when my girls were one and two I ran my own jewelry shop and had thier play room off the showroom, it was tough, but it worked.....good success with finding a new babysitter......huggs,susie

Still putting one foot in front of the other. I go to see the cardio two weeks today to find out what they plan to do after finding more blocks in my heart.

I am coping with the recently diagnosed diabetes. Nurse said I am doing very well.

I start a computer class on Thursday. Desk top publishing and web design.

Dh and I go to Malta 7 weeks on Thursday to celebrate our Golden wedding anniversary Nov 6th.

I am still beading and have made some bracelets on commission.

Life still has to be lived in spite of what it throws our way.

How are things with you? Love Shirley

Thanks Tina. I dare not give in. I saw my mother do that and we the family looked after her for 25 years. We washed, shopped, cooked and cleaned for her and dad even though we had our work to go to. I said I could never do that and rather than live a life like that I would burn myself out first.. She just sat looking out the window, getting fatter and with the phone in easy reach. Calling one or another of us to do this and that. Even ringing us a 2am to go and make them a cup of tea.

Sad thing is that my sister and both my brothers as well as I are afflicted with the same heart problems as my mother was. It is a family thing.

I think mine must have been the worst because I am the only one who has had the operations. I told the doctors that they had got to keep me going because I have a lot of crafts to pass on to future generations. I have never charged for any tuition that I have given, no matter what the craft has been. In the midst of having an angiogram we were talking about computers. The doctor who was doing it said he was impressed by me and what I did. He said his parents were my age but they would never aspire to using a computer. Like I said life goes on. Love Shirley

*giggling* Okay, I have got to make this for us--Do suggest a certain sort of baking apple?
Reply to
~Candace~

Yes a cooking apple as opposed to eating apples. We use Bramley apples, the large green sour ones.

I have just been and bought the cream to go in some. If I have a small amount I will be okay with my diet. Using Splenda to sweeten the apple. I will economise on the fats during the day to allow for the cream.

My cholesterol level was only 3.6 so I have that well under control. Shirley
