OT: Tooth Update

I called the dentist first thing this morning and got in at 10:30. They took x-rays and chastised me for taking too long to come in. Anyhow, the dentist was able to file down the sharp protrusions on the tooth so my tongue wouldn't get lashed another day. Then the fun starts tomorrow. The tooth has to come out and it's impacted. That means oral surgery tomorrow morning at 8:30. All I want is for the dang thing to stop hurting. If I could wrap a string around a door and slam it shut to pull the tooth I would. In the meantime I'm still taking meds and they are making me sleepy. I am also only eating soft foods so I'm not cooking much. :-)

I should be better tomorrow. Even though the dentist filed the sharp edges off the tooth my tongue has been slashed all weekend. It's very sore and it's hard to talk because I'm so sore.

Starlia, I'm sorry you have to go thru dental surgery, but it ~will~ make it all better (well, after it heals, anyway) I'm also sorry that this couldn't have come at a worser time! Like you need another drain on your finances and your person, what with your DH's surgery coming up!

So, since I can't do much about either one, except be here as a friend....I'll let ya borrow my mantra..it's gotten me thru countless hard times...complicated childbirths, surgeries, uncomfortable job reviews, etc, etc. "This won't be happening ten years from now" repeat as needed. :) I'll be thinking of you as you get all fixed up. ~Candace~ your local hemp goddess :)

I am glad your dentist was able to file away the sharp edges for now so that your tongue isn't getting slashed anymore. It sucks that you have to have the tooth pulled, but if it is impacted like he says, I am sure your mouth will feel alot better when it is out.

Good luck tomorrow getting it pulled. "No Pain" vibes coming your way.

Thanks. I know I will feel much better tomorrow. I was bummed they couldn't do it today. I've lived with it for three days so one more isn't going to kill me.

My mantra is: Relax, this time tomorrow it will be all over. You can stand it, you went through labor, you stand stand anything." Patti

Have you tried rinsing your mouth with peroxide, followed by hot salty water? It sounds kinda gross, but it will help with the painful tongue.

Cheers, Carla

Labor was nothing compared to shattering my femur. If it's only as bad as labor I'll live and be happy tomorrow evening.

Nope, but I'll give it a try. Thanks. My tongue is actually feeling better now that the shrapnel is out.

I love it Kathy! I will remember to let them know. I have a very high pain tolerance so for this to be on my "I'm gonna whine about pain" list I know it's bad. I am taking the miracle drugs and sleeping through most of the day.

I actually got to make a set of beads and I'm still working on my super secret pink formula. Not really top secret, but it's fun to say it is.

Ouch! I had a tooth break off a little and couldn't believe how much it cut up my tongue. Isn't it amazing how your tongue goes right to that spot?

Hope the extraction went smoothly and you feel better now!

It went very well. I am feeling better but I'm not sure if it's because the tooth is gone or the medication.
