Ping! Shirley? How are you?

Hi, Shirley, Just wondering how you are feeling? What have you been doing or designing? I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been trying to post more. It looks like rec.craft.beads is turning into an ad forum with more ads than ever before. Although I enjoy the ads and often bid on some of the lampwork beads, I wish rec.craft.beaders would post more about what they are designing or just doing in general. I miss all our lively conversation back and forth. Spring is trying to come to NJ - it was 70 degrees here yesterday and in the 50's today. Unfortunately, when some of my Bead Sisters from all over the US are coming to the International Flameworking Conference on Friday, the forecast is for snow and temperatures in the 20's and 30's for most of the weekend. I was hoping we'd have some decent weather for a change, though anything will be better than last year when I drove through an ice storm and ended up stuck on the NJ Turnpike for over an hour due to an accident. Happy St. Patrick's Day on Friday, everyone. I'll post who I see and a review of the conference on Monday when I return.

Hello Patti and everyone. It is cold in Uk and we have had snow. The worst spring snow for 50 years. It prevented me from going to see Su at a craft fair on Sunday. I shall be glad when winter is over this year. Not felt my usual self for a few weeks. First a virus that set me back and I have back problems for the last 4 weeks. Finally given in and am seeing my GP tomorrow.

Not been doing much in beadwork. I have done a beaded watch bracelet and necklace and bracelet for DG. She wanted something in orange to wear at her 20 birthday next Sunday.

I have made several greeting cards, some of them beaded. I even took up my knitting needles to knit one of the fluffy scarfs that are all the rage here.

Still working on my computer studies and sit my next exam in two days time. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I pass.

I need to learn to use this piece of new equipment I have called a Craft Robo. It is a plotter and cutter to help with my paper crafts. I just have not felt motivated enough to sit and fathom it out.

My neighbour died two weeks ago, just 7 months after her DH, she lost the will to live and we wonder who we will get living next to us.

I picked up 2 vintage crystal necklaces at the last antiques fair I went to with youngest son.

That is about it for now Hugs to all Shirley

We were sorry to not see you this weekend too, Shirley! When the weather settles down a bit perhaps we can drive down to see you for a bit one day very soon. It's cold and snowy again here but since March came in like a lion I'm confident it will go out like a lamb. Let's just hope it's not a big Aardman-style were-lamb!

Cheese, Gromit!

I do like a bit of Gorgonzola!

Congrats on the exam, you're hardly past it! I knew you'd come through with flying colours. See, I can even spell like a Brit. I'm assimilated.

Perishing cold here too, my tootsies are complaining.

We'll come see you when the weather warms up... say... July. There should be one day then it's warm....

Missed having you around these parts, but I've been laying low, too. Avner turned 3 last weekend - hard to believe it.

Three!

Where does the time go?

The First Mate will be 7 in June and is well over 4' tall now.

*sigh*

Many happy returns for Avner.

Thanks Barbara. Your lovely little man will soon have left his baby years behind.

I have not been around because I cannot compete with all of these fabulous glass bead makers. January to March is not my best time of the year. I need some inspiration. Shirley

Snow in March? Weird! It's been cold here, too - and just recently had some hail/freezing rain up here near the mountains. ((((((hugs))))))

The weather forecast does not seem to get any better. Dh told me that it is going to get colder and we could have snow this coming week. We have had rain and high winds. I am beginning to feel depressed with it now since I suffer from SAD.

I have a load of frog spawn in the pond and the cold could kill it off. I counted 13 frogs in the larger pond and 7 in the smaller pond. One poor female has 2 males frogs clinging to either side of her and has been like it for days. I scooped them out and put them in the smaller pond where there is no fish to eat the offspring. Shirley playing midwife. LOL

The snow drop are going over and a the crocus and primroses are blooming. Daffodils are coming out and the hyacinths are showing buds. I have one lone tulip in flower. Hugs to all Shirley
