What are you working on now?

Always a cool topic... what are you working on now?

I've just finished a bracelet made of opal chips - the real deal. I had ordered them from FMG and was SO disappointed b/c they looked so dowdy on the strand. So I cut the strand and WOWZA did they pop when you looked at them from the top! There is milk opal, jelly opal and pinfire opal all mixed together. I did a simple 3 row peyote base out of clear 7/0's and attached the opal chips to the surface with 15's.

Now I'm doing a similar technique for the necklace. Will post pics when I'm done!

I just got a lovely dichroic cab combo from Cheryl adorned with poly clay ... and I'll work on that next. It feels good to be beading again.

What about you?

The bracelet sounds great. I have ordered some chip beads to make some more Tree of Life pendants. Just having a rest though because I have just made 76 Christmas cards, that part of Christmas is sorted. Shirley

I am at the collecting stuff stage, planning to do a series of bead embroidered things. Since it is a new direction I am having trouble settling on a design to start and will probably end up beading around cabs because it doesn't require too much advance planning. I feel like doing landscapes but not sure if I can do that with such a small space.

I'm working on stuff for the show I have next Saturday and Sunday. Today I plan on doing some bracelets in amethyst, freshwater pearls, carnelian, aventurine. I also have to dig out the earring racks (which I haven't looked at all summer) and see which designs are missing. Then, I have to go through my lampwork stash and decide which lampwork beads I can possibly part with and make a few lampwork bracelets. All of this is complicated by the fact that the silver clasps I ordered from Gem O Rama are too small, so I had to return them yesterday, I hope the replacements will arrive in time for the show, lol. It's always something..... We have changed from dial up to Verizon FIOS (fibre optic) technology

- the resolution is much clearer - lampwork bead pictures are amazingly detailed. And, I thought beads were tempting before... Have a great weekend, everyone!!

Lots of things, I'm getting ready to sell at a large out door market. Earrings and bracelets mainly.

But I did find time to make myself a pair of earrings to wear to a party:

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to start something I have wanted to start for ages! A black and white necklace with some gorgeous eye dot lampwork beads I bought from scootrgrl on JustBeads.

Some RAW bracelets using Gutterman crystals and seed beads. Some have daggers on the sides, some have crystals across the top, some have a strip of seed beads on the diagonal acrros the top. Just playing.

Also in packing found some honking big labradorite rounds, tiny moonstone coins and small round garnets, all bought at a bead show ages ago,and strung them up into a heavy geenormous necklace. It looks good, though.

Valerie is right. I need to start shopping at Linda's.

I'm finishing things for the new book, I have ten days.....OUTSIDE the computer I'm working on a Log Cabin patch charm necklace and bracelet, hanging the finished miniature quilts in the little store, and taking pictures. Bryan, my DH, is covering a childs' scale guitar in pc and beads, the back is tumbling blocks, the sides are strips, and the front is sorta crazy quilty with lots of blocks and pieces, telephone wire for strings, etc. Lots to do, and ten days to do it in!!

I recently went to a Lavender Growers AGM and have orders for three bunches of French beaded lavender flowers, plus a bracelet of lavender flowers. I am still working on that idea and will most likely make a sterling silver base and twine the flowers between two levels of the wire.

Am in the second week of school holidays so have made two viking knit SS necklaces and three kimihimo braided necklaces. one with seed pearls which looks great. These need to be finished for the gallery but I am waiting for the findings. Plan another with lovely cream/brown central agate stones but am still looking for beads to match for the rope.

Have ordered from Rio Grande for the first time for the clasps. Most of the materials I use are not available locally. Sterling silver clasps and cones. Mastex thread I am still searching for but couldn't locate at the big craft show last weekend.

Cheers, Jan

Well, nothing truly beady right now (other than making beads for sale), but for the last year I have been working on a cross stitch - a large wizard. It's so cool - and I am finally nearing the end! It's in mostly dark purple colors, with vibrant fuschia added in. I love stitching in the evenings after work. :) The cool thing about this particular piece is that there are little gold celestial charms to put on it after all the stitching is done.

Here's a really bad picture of it I found online:

It's much brighter and more rich in person.

Finally getting around to posting to this :)

For the past coupla weeks, I've been practicing clay canes. Made my first flower cane, and tonight just finished my first leaf cane; and I've got about a pound of scrap clay from aborted attempts at other stuff.

I figured it was time to start doing something about than the random multi-colored swirled lentils :)

Cheers, Carla

I'm desperately trying to keep things running smoothly, we're doing a long list of bead shows, and also working on keeping the studio going and stock built up.

I've been booted from Mike's studio upstairs into my own room with big sunny windows and a view of the moors in the direction of Haworth (everyone shout Heathcliff now!) and hope to start my own textile/bead projects in the next week or so.

We're off to the biggest bead fair in the UK this Sunday and then some free time so with luck I can actually get a project or two of my own finished!

Other than that, nothing really!

:-D

I can't wait to see your bracelet pics!

I'm feeling a lot better and back to torching full-time; I'm pretty much glued to boro at the moment. Other than that, I'm planning my garden (I didn't have one at all this year!) and fascinated with figuring out this knotted lampwork necklace I'm obsessed with. Oh, and I'm working on a naked mole-rat costume for my oldest. Yes, she informed me that she wants to be a naked mole-rat for Halloween! I love that kid. :)
