We were packed and happily ready to go when we went to bed last night.
I had figured it was colder than 40 below. The car wouldn't start with it plugged in, and the charger on it. And the pipes had frozen, even heat tapes on it. I figured we'd take a cab, and when we got home the weather would be warmer and the pipes would thaw. Actually, sit was -50 in town it would have been closer to -60 out here last night.
And then came morning. Though the thermostat was set at 70, it was almost down to 50 in the house. And the dog's water bowl, on the floor, actually had ice in it. We hit the restart button on the boiler and got the place heating up again. But so very slowly.
So I'm still home. We just couldn't risk having the heat be a problem and coming home to a house with broken pipes in the wall, and with frozen/broken boiler, water heater, water pump, etc.
The house has been slowly heating up. About 3 degrees an hour. Course, if I went out and chopped some wood it would go faster!
