Love you 2, Linda2!! Just remember, please, that if indeed he's "the" one, then you don't have to DO anything beyond responding to whatever happens with truth and honor for yourself and others. And if he isn't the one, that's still all you gotta do. I believe there are many loves for each of us available...some last for years, some don't--we get lessons in life from every encounter we ever have. Sometimes we get greedy for more---but that's a lesson too.

Freud said that all we each really need from life to make it good is honest love and meaningful work. Sarajane

Harry, I'm so sorry you're not feeling 100%! I haven't had time for the newsgroup lately but I wanted to tell you that you've been a bright spot here ever since you found us. I look forward to your posts!

Don't respond to this, just bide your time until you feel better. I know what it's like to be overwhelmed, and sad. If you want to email me, please don't hesitate.

You spread a lot of joy; you might not even know it, but it radiates from your messages. I have really, really enjoyed making your aquaintance here.

Kandice, I wonder what it is that makes so many of us beady people susceptible to depression and anxiety? Seems like person after person after person, I'm constantly finding out that my beady companions have to struggle with one or the other, or both. I just learned that a dear friend of mine who I've long known struggles with depression and anxiety is really into beads! How I missed knowing this for so long is beyond me.

Try replacing all your light bulbs with full-spectrum ones (GE Reveal or similar) and, wierdly enough, dim them at sunset. The extra light during the day helps, and dimming them at sunset seems to help resolve the discrepancy between your body's internal rhythms and the artifical one created by our technological society. At least, that's my theory; I don't know why it helps, for sure, but it usually does.

I think part of it goes the other way. Depression interferes with that bounding energy that sends people hopping and doing all over the place. Depressives often like to be home where they can control the environment and the pace. Since we're still creative, we build art structures, instead of going out and building a cabin. I think other disabilitiestend toward arts and crafts too, because of physical restriction. And people with physical disabilities are also afflicted to some degree with depression (melancholy) as well as Depression (mental illness which includes mental tiring).

And of course beads and other beautiful things lighten the load.

i'd sure like to know the same thing. maybe those of us that already have those symptoms are drawn to beading as therapy?

I have the thought, Kalera, that its the other way around. People who are bright and perceptive are often also subject to depression and anxiety due to the sheer amount of signals coming in, and therefore susceptible to needing some quiet place--like beading can provide.

Beads are beauty in a small package; calming, soothing, touchable and moveable and something I am able to control at least sometimes or ignore as I choose-- as opposed to my cash flow, my physical troubles, my family members, my government officials, or the weather. Sarajane

I agree with you, Sarajane. I also know a lot of quilters and scrapbookers who are prone to depression. So I think it's more that depression drives us to figure out a way to deal with it, and we end up with a creative outlet for therapy. I sit with my beading or quilting or whatever, and have my Ott light there next to me...and it just feels different than the days I can't do that. On days when I leave out the creative endeavors, I can feel it...i'm not as centered or as focused, feel less in control of my life, if that makes sense. Professional therapy helps to a point (although, our insurance only covers it if it's an acute problem), but I still have to figure out something to do to help me on a daily basis. Creating beautiful things out of the ugliness I'm feeling seems to fit the bill nicely.

Jalynne, it certainly does. I'm sure that's the idea behind art as a therapeutic endeavor too. Sarajane
