What I've been working on....

Here's some new stuff I worked on this weekend. I got the clasp from an Eni Oken tutorial, but I'm really proud of myself on the pendant. I kept studying the ring pictures, on her site, and I don't know if I did it exactly like she does, but I was pretty impressed with myself for figuring out somehting that worked!

The pendant is a piece of dyed fossilized shell (kind of like chicken mcNuggets---pieces parts) that I used in place of that polymer cab that got messed up.

Ooooooooo, now I want more cabs!

Lol. At least your skills are a little more practical than mine!

I really like these and will definitely be trying some more.

How wonderful, can I come and have a few lessons from you.

I have the Eni Oken CD somewhere. Shirley

closest to that I'm any good at is plumbing

And I second that about the classes, but I don't think I'd have the patience. Like watching Kalera make beads, I don't think I'd have the patience for lampwork either ... (watching yes, but that's different)

Thanks Susan! Didn't you used to have wire on your site? Seems like one of the first wire cabs I did was from your tutorial.

I used to do a lot of wire knitting, but haven't ventured very far into wired wrapping. But when I see things like this, I want to. I'm currently re-thiking my business name - I don't do much wire anymore, so Wired woman Design doesn't fit like it used to, before the torch lured me into hot glass land ...

Wired Flame? Lol. Trying to think of names for you.

I guess it was another Susan that had a link about wrapping a cab. It's been several years.

How about Susan Burwash Studios. I think it says it all. Own your power.

Thanks Tina - that's the name that seems to make most sense to me too, although I like your version, studios (plural) as I have both a glass and a jewelry studio, and who knows what else in the future (it's that Gemini thing ;-) ). I'm off this early AM to do a TV spot about using lampwork beads to make a gratitude bracelet, a chance to talk beads, wire AND occupational therapy so I'm (almost) happy to do it, even if it means an early morning. Thanks again!

You know, we haven't had a good discussion on art as therapy, or an empowerment tool for too long. Tell us about these gratitude bracelets please. In an energy workshop I took, we selected beads about two thirds of the way through. At the end of the work shop we picked up a bead while meditating on an idea from the workshop, and then had the option of stringing the beads or putting them in a medicine bag (or whatever). The strung item was intended as more of a strand of thoughts or discoveries than (necessarily) a work of great jewelry. Is the gratitude bracelet anything like that?
