I can Clarice not getting my hint but Ellice, you should remember! I wasn't talking about things like soccer, football, baseball, etc. I was thinking more along the line of those outdoor "sports" that require camouflage gear, and I don't mean paintball wars either -- LOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Maybe she could make a "Homecoming poncho" eh? I think also that whatever money she's making per day should go to the jail. Taxpayers pay alot of money to support people in jail. As a matter of fact the people in jail get more benifits than we do. (Like health, dental)

Ahhhh, I had blocked that set of "sport talk" out of my mind. I don't think it's come up at all since that hot set of chat ....

I belong to Vera Stoll's Hardanger group on Yahoo. Vera started the group to give free assistance to folks wanting to learn hardanger.

Sibilli advertised her class on the site. When someone asked if we were required to take the class I commented that I was not taking the class as it cost $25 and I was getting free tips from Vera. I put IMHO and signed my name. That is all I said.

She blasted me good and told me that I was the reason that there weren't many freebies available.....etc......

For the record...I have never, in 30 years, stitched a freebie......and spending my money on chemo and radiation to keep my DD alive takes priority over lining the pockets of a designer that can't handle the fact that everyone in the universe doesn't want to take her class, and is spiteful and rude to those who don't.

I didn't post anything on this group until after Sibilli brought it over here and blasted me again. Vera told me not to worry about it on her group as I had done nothing wrong and she wanted folks to state their opinions.

Sibilli, you need to give it a rest and quit "beating a dead horse". IMHO......IMHO...

It would be a foolish person who would take a paid class while they are already taking a free class. Ignore it.

Hope your DD does well.

Now that we've seen her true colors, I'm sure it will be a cold day in Hell before we refer anyone to her website.

Well Sibille , It strikes me that you are not a very nice or tolerant person. This group has ben around long before you have ( and no I haven't been in it from the start).Yes the topics vary from stitching related to OT and are usually marked as such . Have you thought that maybe the fact that you're charging for your course and there are several free hardanger courses available on the net that are at least as good as yours may be a factor - I know this has been pointed out to you on at least one other group and you chose to take exception to that fact. Hardanger is a specialist course and as such the followers are bound to be fewer . If you realise that this is not personal and use a more friendly way of promoting then you may find you get more takers. The folk here have a very varied craft and needlework background and share tips and hints and stories interspersed with general chat. As an international Usenet group , there is no moderator and the topics are wide ranging . If you're not happy with that then the choice is yours but please don't demean yourself by berating the rest of us for our enjoyment . Goodbye and mind the door on your wy out Jan (Wiltshire UK)

Jan, where are you in Wiltshire ? I went to school at Westonbirt (light years ago) and the winterbourne there forms part of the county line between Glos and Wilts. I had a great aunt who lived at Lea and a cousin who lived in Chippenham, Wilts is a lovely county.

Hi Sheena , I'm just outside Chippenham - I actually work in Chippenham itself and have lived in Wiltshire since 1980 (I was in the WRAF and met DH here while he was in the RAF .I left the WRAF in 1988 to have DS and DH left in 2005 but still works on base as a Flight simulator console operator DS works in the Officers mess and DD is in the village school so we're well settled but I reckon on at least another 30 years before I'm accepted as a villager , lol !!! I love that Wiltshire is so central and easy to reach my favourite places - Bath , Oxford , Bristol and London but still maintains its rural identity. Jan

I think all that area is probably the best preserved in England. When I go over I stay with a friend in Uley in Glos. and we always trip around and visit places like Chippenham. When my parents were in England when I was at school, they would stay at the Bear !

There's a little bakery (or was a couple of years ago) half way up the main street that advertised 'Lardy Cake' and we got there just after the last that day was sold ugh. I have made it myself a couple of times but it's a bit of an operation.

Have to say I'm not a lardy cake lover but yes all the local bakeries still make it.The Bear is a bit run down now and The Angel is 'the' place to stay !!!

RCTN as a fossil....yes, there are similarities.

Most of the life force left it years ago, the same skeleton crew posts the same opinions over and over.

I still love some of the members, still have no use at all for others. I hardly even think to read it anymore, just because I find the most frequent posters so darned unpleasant.

The one bright spot in this thread was that needlework was brought up in a thread that was mostly OT.

Welcome back! It's so nice to know that nothing has changed and someone will still come in two weeks late with a whine.

And just in case you're wondering, I'm quite sure I'm one of the unloved ones, so don't bother --

As far as I am aware it is not compulsory to subscribe to the group. And if you do subscribe it is not compulsory to read all the postings. Be selective..

Yes, your need to snipe at my every post is very unpleasant. As to coming in "two weeks late," I haven't read the group in months, I was skimming and got curious about such an active thread. Newer threads subjects held no interest to me, so I moved past them down the list.

But thank you for proving to me that I am not missing much.

You know, the biggest reason I stopped participating in RCTN was that it was the only newsgroup I was still reading, and it wasn't worth firing up a reader just for it. I've switched to using a feed (google reader, actually), which allows me to add newsgroups along with blogs, etc, and hopefully that means I'll follow the group again. I'm amazed to "see" so many familiar faces.
