I just wonder what the "girls" make of the men who post here?? Never mind the women, ladies, and GOWs. (and at least by agent, several cats and dogs). Stupid name, really.

Jeez, how unreasonable. Here I am sitting quietly having my morning coffee and a glance at the groups and you post that - WITH NO SPEW WARNING - now off to get some paper towel for the monitor !

I'm quite proud of you, Sheena! I had been waiting for some comment about them from you and here comes Jinx, filling in for you! LOLOLOL!!!

Well she is quite right - I find it abominable that somebody feels entitled to take our posts from here and post them somewhere entirely different without a by your leave. To do it to make a buck for themselves too.

Surely it doesn't sit well with you either Joan ? As a librarian you must be heavily into copyright and the idea that even our posts here have some proprietary worth to us, or at least that we might like to KNOW they are being replicated elsewhere.

When it was dying...a group got together and revived it under a new name. Here is the link to their website. I wish they would have it in the middle of the country, instead of NH!!

Don't bother apologising, if anyone should, it's the sew girls operation, taking someones post from elsewhere, putting it here then taking your post and putting it somewhere else.

It sort of like "Do you know where your post is today?" The whammy is that sew girls make dollars off your post, do you ?

Color me green (with envy) - looks like a wonderful gathering. Coincidentally, I was just looking at that site before I opened r.c.t.n. to catch up! Someday I'll get there...if I start saving my pennies today. It won't be this year, though.

Actually, I went there through a link from Blue Ribbons Design's March newsletter, where I saw this alternate photo of one of the Nashville projects. I wasn't "moved" by the hoffmandis photo, but this one gives it a whole new dimension - literally - that is stunning:

Its worth saving up for. It's a lot of fun even when you just hang out and don't take the classes like I tend to do. I am very blessed that it is only about 20 minutes from my house.

Ah, the bad side of the internet. Like when we found out some crazy guy was posting under my way-old e-mail (and maiden name) to a bunch of USENET groups, with totally crazy stuff - as if I would be screaming and cursing about Walt Disney things or the Beatles. You just never know.

The sew girls thing - it's really nervy. I've had, as I imagine many of us have, people from a guild chapter send a note asking if they can reprint something I may have written about on-topic. Always nicely asking, and saying they'll give credit, which is how it should be.

Oh, well, there's enough stupid stuff to be aggravated about, I just only let the sew girls cycle thru that list rarely.

Darn you, Sue!!!! That is lovely. I like all the pieces. I'm using heart shaped thread holders on the needlebook/tool case "hearts and flowers" design thing I'm finishing. I wonder if the piece is all XS - as I think that most of her deisgns are - which has become one of my "new piece" criteria (multiple stitches). But, of course, you could use it!

But, I'm really, really, trying to hold the line on any new purchases. I'm trying desperately to finish a bunch of these stupid teaching designs, and not look at much as it's such a big deal that pieces be clearly original, not derivative. Except .....for this year's ANG exhibit they've put in a Jean Hilton stitches category. That could be really wild in the geometric world.

In the meantime, last week I got "A Gallery of American Samplers" by Glee Kreuger, and have had a fabulous time reading through it, and really looking at the amazing stitching of all these young girls. It's inspiring. And was a bargain at the 2nd Story Books (seriously, I think I paid $4.50 as it was on sale). Just for the curious.

You're right, it doesn't. I have not an inkling of how to stop it, though.

Moi aussi. However it would be nice not to aid them along and not answer when they post some unwitting posters post here since we have no guarantees that we are going to help that person anyway. Well I suppose they might pass the info on, under their auspices.
