Cricket...

One time I thought I had the same problem. It turned out to be a low battery warning on a smoke detector!!!

I know what you mean! It seems to me that crickets have the ability to "throw" their sounds and they're never where you think they are. If you have the time, about the only way I've ever been able to find them is to just sit still and watch for them. They don't make any noise if they know you're moving about but if you can just sit still for awhile they'll eventually poke their nasty little faces out of their hidey-hole.

They`re the one thing that gives my DH the willies!!! I rescue him from Crickets, and he rescues me from large, hairy spiders!

In the South where I live, there is a superstition that it's bad luck to kill a cricket, and crickets are in abundance here, so those who don't wish to tempt fate (like myself) are frequently beset and bedeviled in finding ways to rid themselves of the annoying sound. My solution is to open the door nearest to the cricket, once he (or she) has been located, and to use my broom to usher the little creature out the door. This method saves the life of the cricket and returns my home to peace and tranquility, LOL.
