Disappointed in Thread Express :-(

WOE IS MOI!!! I just went to Thread Express to order some Rainbow Gallery Fiesta (rayon) and they don't carry it any more!!! Nor do they carry the RG silk! I have ordered my specialty fibers exclusively from Thread Express for over five years and now it looks like I am going to have to find another supplier! I really like ordering from them because they are predominately an internet store and usually had everything I wanted in stock. And NO -- I won't switch brands -- LOL! The folks at RG have bent over backwards several times to help me find specific fibers and I will continue to buy their products until I hear that they are turning into meanies. So, can anyone recommend a really good internet source for Rainbow Gallery fibers? I much prefer to order from a shop that isn't brick & mortar because they can devote all their time to their internet business. I don't order often but when I do I usually order a whopping big bunch of stuff. Which reminds me that I have been planning on adding to my RG Splendor Silk stash soon! So -- any recommendations and NO, I can't just run down to my LNS and place an order. It's a minimum 45 minute drive on a good day and you never know what kind of a mood the shop people are going to be in. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Please don't blame Thread Express too hastily.

I don't know if you'll remember, but a while back I was unhappy with a certain manufacturer who would not sell to me based on the fact that I do not have a brick'n'mortar store. The email they sent me was that they make it their policy to not sell to online stores and that you must have a B&M store. Well, I didn't really believe it because they were sold by internet stores who had once been B&M stores but were no longer, but that's what I was told.

In any case, it may be that RG is just not selling to Thread Express anymore at all because they don't have a B&M--and they just won't sell to Thread Express at all.

I don't know Thread Express's situation at all, but I do know mine, and I know I had to alter a whole lotta plans I'd made because of it.

In fact, you might think about forwarding your post to RG directly in case they don't really understand that our LNS's are dying out here.

'm sorry, but they're mostly B&M.

OH Dear -- I'm not blaming them -- they have been wonderfully helpful to me over the last few years. I'm just sorry I will have to find another supplier for my favourite silks :-(! I do know they have a "sort of" B&M shop because they say right on their website that you can visit the shop by appointment. They do carry ONE of the Rainbow Gallery blended fibers (silk & wool, I think) just not any of the other RG specialty fibers. My first thought when I couldn't find the RG was that the other suppliers probably made them a better deal. And let's face it -- they are in the business to make money. Unfortunately for MOI, they obviously can't do that well enough by selling the RG fibers. I REALLY like their website, too! Loads of color charts, etc. All of the other sites I have been to in my search tonight didn't offer any mfg. color charts at all! It was soooooo easy shopping at Thread Express!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I don't know if that is true, but it may be. RG tends to service very well the accounts which one of their reps has handled. So, it tends to be that once you're well established with them, they're good, but... I know that with my friends B&M LNS, she wasn't thrilled for a while - years back - with the service. We wondered if it was because the rep is closely tied with a different LNS. However, both shop owners became quite friendly (and I helped - LOL) which ended with my pal spending a bit more time with the RG rep, which lead to carrying more stuff, and excellent service.

Me either - WRT Thread Express. It may have to do with minimum orders, or whatever. Anyhow, in my other post, I suggested at least a B&M which carries pretty much the entire RG line - and is local to Donna & I & Erika if she came up....

I got a very nice reply from Colleen, the newest owner of Thread Express. She said she hasn't changed ANY of the stock and they still carry the RG Splendor. THAT is what I really was sad about! The rayon is no big deal because I have all of the DMC and will use that as needed. I'm using the RG rayon because the color -- a bright sapphire blue -- was just a bit better for the current project than the DMC. I hadn't realized that I would need as much of the floss so I was scrambling there trying to find someone who had some of it in stock! Thanks for the kind offer to help. I'll remember next time I am in dire straights! Besides, it would give you a legitimate reason for S.E.X. on someone else's dime :-)))! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I can understand that - not realizing how much you need. It certainly happens to me. I've been using a lot of RG Splendor these last couple of years. But, now one of the LNS is carrying Needlepoint Inc, so I'm going totry that as well. The Splendor is very consistend, and it's great for doing shading because they have so many colors.
