I'm embarrased to admit that it happened to me too. I went out in a bathrobe to throw out the garbage and my kid locked the door behind me. I was lucky and I could open the picture window enough to climb through. Lucille

I have a key hidden where I know where to find it. Another idea, if people find this a problem. Get a lock-box of the type that real estate agents use. You can attach them to doors, and a combination allows other agents to get at the house key. Put a key in a lock-box, and hide the lock-box.
We had talked about a hidden key on and off but with the number of break-ins at the time, we opted for just carrying a key while the kids were little and just one of us was home...

I'm lucky to live on a street where neighbors are comfortable stashing door keys at each others' homes. It's good to know that if I get accidentally locked out, I have a redundant key available. (And I can't tell you how many times we've "rescued" various neighbors' kids who come home from school and have forgotten their key!)

Thank heaven it was lens cleaner, Lucille, and not Super Glue! (Thinking about what's found in our desk drawers.)

The nurse at the doctor's office that I was speaking with said the worst thing they ever saw was Crazy Glue. She said that really caused a ton of problems.
Please everyone, learn from my mistake and either look first or keep similar bottles like these in separate places.

Oh my neighbor on one side has a key and my kids know she does.... But it does mean she has to be home to get it...

It would not have worked at Shad Bay, nor here. Both doors are entirely smooth and no locks available. Nothing short of smashing a very large sized piece of double glass.
