Is any one interested in doing a "Stitch Along"

And don't forget all the ones on Rainbow Gallery:

course, we would need to have someone try to do a conversion tomore readily available threads. Personally, I like Stained GlassSquare.

Linda

I like the idea of canvas work and doubt that color conversion would create a major problem. My big problem is that I'm finding it difficult to decide which one I like best so I suppose it would be easiest to just go along with the crowd.

I just ;looked at the Rainbow Gallery site. I agree with Linda, my pick of the litter would be the Stained Glass...but there atre a lot of other fun ones.

I have never done canvaswork, so would need lots of advice and help if we do use this medium

I might also be interested if we do a small canvaswork piece. I'm not interested in taking on any other big projects now, but a small one might entice me. And there are so many beauties on those sites!

I would be interested in participating too. I like any of those Laura Perin designs, especially the Blackwork Mystery or the Summer Flower Boxes. Cats and Bats would be perfect if this was October, so I'm definitely going to print that one out to do for Halloween. Gotta love the black scaredy kitties.

What happened to the canvaswork idea? Laura J. Perin has some great free designs.

Heart's for You or any of the seasonal designs. I like WinterBreeze, but I love blue. I'd be willing to come up with colorconversions if needed.

I like these--thanks Donna for the link. I think any of them would make a great stitch along. Since these are pattern and texture, not realistic pictures, those of us who are comfortable changing colours and threads could go ahead and stitch along in colours we like.

I have had a hankering to stitch some geometric type of thing, since you gals started posting the lovely stuff you have recently finished, or worked on. Not being particularly artistic or adventurous I would probably stay with the threads and colors prescribed.

How about

uncomplicated (symmetrical and has one color). Is there going to be a vote?

Just what I was going to say. Although, the caveat is, depending on what you pick. If it's canvaswork that is done in cottons, with just some metallics, it just takes a little effort to change the colors. But, if it includes a lot of specialty threads - it will be some work to come up with alternate colourways - having to do with getting appropriate colors in some of the special threads, or knowing what can be substituted (e.g. Like using Petite Sparkle Rays in place of 1/16" Kreinik Ribbon). But, it's certainly doable. At this point, when I do additional colorways for a class, I collect a separate fee as it honestly takes hours to do for some of these canvaswork pieces.

Y'know - if you do a stitch along, you could use RCTNP, if Sheena agrees, to post comments, instructions, photos ...besides chatting here.

LOL - I just answered - thanks for "needing" us....

Honestly, for any of you, if you do pick something and want a couple of additional colorways worked up, I'm happy to do it for my friends. And post pix of choices.

Really the thing is with changing colors is having the resource for the special stuff to make choices - which resource we have - for the most part.

Anyhow, I'll happily help. Sure Donna would, too... We were just looking at colors today for one of her "ideas"....

Ditto. Laura's designs would be perfect. I like the Stitcher's Challenge ones, and personally would pick one that has at least 1 "specialty" stitch in it. Several fo them are essentially all satin stitch variaations - scotch stitch & satin. Great for beginning canvas - just a couple of pointers so they do well. I like Winter winds, too.

I really like the summer breeze, and all of the seasonal ones. And could easily give you some other colorways (especially since I've done several based around a Watercolours variegated cotton, with accompanying other cottons and metallics). Plus, I'd be willing to put up some instructions to the group for any of the "complicated" stitches.

Anyhow, these are a nice size - not too big.

LMK - happy to help if I can - without being obnoxious, or presumptious....

That's a really nice piece. You can also look on the Caron website, there are a lot of freebies there, with great instructions.

Well, depending, we might be able to do some conversions, and then arrange to send supplies to those who need them.

Some of the RG threads can be subbed with other ribbons, or Kreinik, some not. But, "we" know how to get them pretty easily.

It will also be nice to have someone here who can write an understandable explanation of how to do stuff. I'm pretty good at following directions and figuring out how, but when I try to explain it I sound like a blithering idiot. It's a good thing I'm not a teacher.

Not at all a bad idea! I'll put up a pot of coffee, break open a bottle of wine and buy some do-nuts and we could have ourselves a party.

I'm probably showing my ignorance here or being very picky but what's a "do-nut"? It sounds even worse than a deep-fried Mars Bar

Nothing exotic. Just my silly way of misspelling "doughnut." You must have had a Krispy Kreme, or Dunkin Donuts pastry at some time, haven't you?

US quickie for Doughnut.

Need translations, just check with me...I have been here for 48 years, ( the one year contract got extended).

Cashiers still comment on my accent....and I don't believe I have one. I was brought up to speak BBC English....non-regional, right??
