But they show Gentle Art Sampler threads as used... is there also a DMC listing for conversion on the charts? I'd like to order Joie de Vivre, but need the DMC conversions to stitch it.
A nice thing about the Long Dogs I've done is that the designer frequently says that it's ok to use whatever threads you want. She will make suggestions, but they are just that.
Granted, I have only done the single color ones so far.
Also with Long Dog... I have about 20 now...done just a couple so far... Julia will list the DMC threads. I'm not sure if she does it with all but the couple I just checked out have the DMC's listed. AND another thing good is that if you go to the Long Dog site she will have, for many of the charts, an estimate of how much floss you'll need to stitch the piece. This is especially helpful on the monochromatic designs such as "Rosemarkie" that I just finished...
Pat, I'm doing Bagatelle as it was suggested, blue spruce fabric and white DMC floss, but I found a Needle Necessities overdye that I'm going to use for the netting, if I ever manage to get that far. For St. Germain, I had a lovely green-ish dyed fabric from Silkweavers that I hauled to the LNS to toss various green flosses on and Needlepoint Inc.'s green won. I think the monochromatic charts can really be done just as you want. I've also seen several of the monochromatic ones that the stitcher has actually done in multiple colours. If you go to their website you can see at least one version of St. Sylvester that's done in colours.
I found a great resource for a less expensive overdyed floss right here in town as I'm starting one of TW's Celtic crosses for a dear friend... what fun just comparing colors nad playing with fabrics!! This is such a blessing, my own LNS. The owne said she'd love to order Long Dog Samplers for me; she cannot keep the charts in her shop, they grow feet and walk away as fast as they arrive!
:-)
Thank you for the encouragement, Tegan, I appreciate your kindness.
I've got my eye on Bagatelle, but I keep repeating to my other self: "You don't need another chart not to do. You don't even have time to do the ones in your stash." So far it's self 2, other self 8. Who do you think is going to win?
I've been trying to find a source for the Jan Houtman Patchwork but so far the only ones are Jayne's Attic in England and the other one that will only sell it as a complete kit with silks. To order it from England comes to about $30 and I'm not sure I want to spend that much on a chart that I haven't time to do but want anyway.
I'll keep looking and maybe it'll turn up somewhere.
I have masses of GAST. Really love it; Of course I haven't stitched with it very often, but it is there when I may need it. Over here GAST and WDW are close in price.
