My New Frame is Empty???

I went out with a couple of friends this morning to a Big Lots and found a really nice bargain. A 5" x 5" rather ornate pewter frame.

Now I must have something to put in it. After all, I wouldn't want the poor little frame to stay empty, would I?

What wonderful ideas do you have for me for something great that will fit in a 5 x 5?

What kind of art do you like? Have you looked at Solaria?

Or how about an intitial?

be stunning on a silver laced fabric . . .they say it's about 7inches on 11 count - it would be a perfect fit with a mat on 18. . Linda

Some of the Dessins are very nice, but neither the L or the Z are calling to me.

I think I would love a miniature sampler. I might even have a Drawn Thread chart in my stash that has two tiny samplers. I really should go and look, shouldn't I?

So why not just do a letter you like? I'm partial to Q myself

Michaels has some nice NP kits that work up to 5x5.

Hi,

Most of the mill hill kits fit into the 5x5 frame....I have a few that I change out for the seasons.

How about one of the initials from M Designs? The L and Z are both lovely, and would suit an elaborate pewter frame well, I think.

doesn't say how big they are, though. But they don't appear huge, and you can vary the fabric size. And working with variegated could make it interesting without a lot of changing! Sue

You had to show me these! I rarely find a single initial in a larger format that I like and I love both the C and the E....

I have some little ones from Dessin's that are freebies - I'll throw something in with the turtles when they swim your way.

That's a great idea - they fit perfectly in that size. There are some really nice Button and Bead kits - I'm almost done with the "martini" one now! Also - there are nice geometrics from Keslyn's that if you do on 32 ct will fit. And, many of those little Sweetheart Tree or JBW and some of the Elizabeth's Designs, especially the Little Leafs will fit in that.

Got to go. Ellice

Thry're really nice - but closer to about 7" square - they're too much for a

5" X 5" - unless doing over one on something like 18 ct Cork linen or 25 ct.

Oh, do you want these???? We have the full packet of the alphabet, and also have a packet broken to sell by the sheet. Besides the M designs letters. And there is a lovely set of monograms from Marjorie Massey, Le Passe' Compose, and from Reflets de Soie. Also, we have a couple of books from France, of all Monograms. And Dessings has some charts that are monochrome, with a letter in the midst of different borders, etc.

Just check out the dessin's stuff on European Cross Stitch - I think they have a bunch - we get directly from Dessin's.

There are simply too many choices and I doubt I could make up my mind in a week. Needless to say, I have skatey-eight other projects just waiting for me, so it's not something I need urgently.

I love this place. All you need do is to ask for help and poof, much more help then you ever thought possible is there in a NY Minute, especially when it comes to enabling. lol
