Is pink the big color elsewhere also?

Every kid on DS's team has pink tape on their sticks. And pink tape is selling like the proverbial hotcakes.

Cheryl

Pink?? I didn't know tape even *came* in pink.

Among DS's crowd, which admittedly are little kids, tape generally matches socks or jersey, or is whatever the pathetic pro shop has in stock.

For what ever reason, all the boys are using pink tape somewhere on their sticks.

Hmm - how do you count the three rinks in one day! (my Saturday this week - DD at 11, DS (game) at 4, DS(practice) 8:30PM!

Wow, hockey tape has come a long way!

Caryn (hockey fan, not hockey mom or wife)

My son likes white tape or anything light in color as to visualize the puck easier on his stick. He is an 18U midget goalie. Asking him if he would ever use pink, he said he would not.

He said black, white or blue is used on his team. Those are his team colors, but in a pinch, they will use anything they can get a hold of. And I suppose if someone had pink....well then! LOL

Kedela remembering the days when I used to tape his stick, now he drives to practice :( where does the time go?

So far this season, I've seen lots of color used. DH wondered if the pink tape was in support of breast cancer awareness month.

I did see one team taped in black and yellow - their nickname is the killer bees, so it makes sense.

I sort of wish DS was old enough to drive himself to practice. While DH is gone, he has a lot of late practices and I'll need a sitter - 10 PM is just too late for the 7 year old to be still at the rink; she should be asleep for at least 90 minutes at that hour.

But he tapes his stick(s) and DD's stick too these days. In pink, red and white!

Your comment is especially on target tonight - DS's team had a game tonight with a team of exceptionally dirty play and lots of hard take downs. And broken bones - 6-8 weeks out for that boy. Sadly, he just got a cast off the other wrist!

I still think the pink tape looks odd!

Cheryl

Sounds like the little girl who lived behind us. She had JUST (minutes before) gotten a cast off one broken arm when she fell off her bike and broke the other. All told, she broke an arm 3 times within about 6 months.

DS has broken the same arm twice now; I really don't want a repeat.

That poor little girl.

Cheryl

Our team has suffered through broken limbs, separated shoulders, cuts, gashes, and now we have MONO.

Two players out for the rest of season (ending the end of November cuz of high school hockey)

They share water bottles, washed by who knows. I am glad DS keeps his own gatorade on the top of the net.

K

Oh no, mono is the worst - it just keeps on giving! has it started on the girlfriends yet?

Our Midget aged players do a split season and the 9th grade Bantams play both HS and travel leagues.

Sometimes that just doesn't matter. Boyfriend got it from sister's kid. I got it (mild case). My office mate got it from ???? (did he drink out my soda can? - surely wouldn't have kissed him!)

Lots of chicken soup all around.

Cheryl

Turns out that mono and one of the childhood viruses are one in the same. OR closely enough related that the childhood one gives you immunity to mono.

Or so the doctor told me when I wondered why I didn't get sick when (yet another) former boyfriend got it.

Cheryl (who just has a cold and is headed to bed!)

My son broke both bones in his arm this summer and just returned to hockey for his first practice today. He's had about 2 months of no excercise because of his arm. The doctor said no recess no gym when the cast came off because of the danger of rebreaking it. He finally has the clearance to play and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I feel bad for the girl.
