Fortunately the rain held off for the ride up. I was also deafened by the two girls in back - I could not listen to the radio, because they wouldn't stop talking - loudly. But, on a better note, our convey of three never got separated and there were no wrong turns. We managed to get everything to the cabin in several trips. The cabin was nice - plenty of room and 4 working toilets - indoors ones to boot. Good thing, because, it was a downpour all night. We went to the opening, got our newest schedules and went to bed. Rained all night. Saturday - more rain. We did a nature hike, went to arts and crafts and boating. Boating was canoes or single kayaks. I had to "rescue" one of my girls when her kayak got blown toward the rocky part of the shore at the lake. The instructor was busy rescuing some one that had been blown the other way into the motor boat area. I have a lovely bruise on my ankle from the rocks under the water. But, better that than DLB (dear little Brownie) having a hissy fit.
Change, go to lunch, go to "indoor" sports - played a game called "Salad". Great rainy day game - everyone is an item you put in your salad. Everyone squats (AKA a deep knee bend) when the "story teller" says salad and when your "item" is called you also have to squat. I was "carrots". If the story teller catches you not squatting, you're out. OH did my thighs ache after that one - with only ten people, I heard a lot about carrots and how good they were. We were supposed to go to the rock wall next, but it was closed for the rest of day due to a conflict. The outdoor heated swimming pool was great, but when it was time to get out, the rain had turned quite icy. Run back to the cabin for hot showers (did I mention there were showers!!!) Then to dinner - my troop was hostess that night, we did the grace and centerpieces. During quiet minutes, I had the girls practice it and we were loud enough to be heard. After dinner, we had a little quiet break and off to (indoor) Campfire. Lots of songs and skits - I have to teach them some skits so we don't always do Alouette when we need to do a song or a skit. We had a minor meltdown - that DLB had never been away from home for two nights. I tucked everyone in later - even my two back up adults.
Next morning - BLUE SKY! We had breakfast, cleaned up some and went to the rock wall. Most of my girls gave it a whirl and two did quite well - the first DLB mentioned clambered all the all the way to the top on two different routes. And my DD made it to with in inches of the top. I think this might be a great activity for the girls over the winter - there are two indoor rock climbing gyms here. Off to finish cleanup and pack up, went to closing ceremonies, signed out, did a mini Scout Own on the cabin porch and drove home.
I didn't unpack the truck until this AM and started doing laundry.
