Thought you might like to see some local craftwork
Great works , only i couldn` see in what techniques they were made ???????? mirjam
Quoting from "The tapestries are woven on a large, extending, upright loom in the High Gobelins technique, using cotton warp at 8 warps per inch. For the weft Leila mainly uses a mixture of Shetland wool, Swedish linen and American cotton but likes to be able to experiment with other materials to achieve the most suitable effect for each idea." All "double dutch" to me but I am quite sure that it's quite meaningful to the rest of the newsgroup readers. She appears to be very popular as there is a waiting time of 2-3 years for a piece of her work!
This is what 'tapestry' really is - the term tapestry was corrupted into meaning needlepoint which was incorrect.
I love the Savey Geo - anyone familiar with ocean cliffs will have seen just that scene. Quite exquisitely done.
They are beautiful. I particularly like the Rock Pool. Anything blue makes me happy and mermaids are so fun.

Very interesting, Bruce. She's so talented. It helped me to read the entire website - amazing weaving. Thanks for sharing.

Just go to the page "about the artist" on the website. There was more info on the various pages.

Thank you For me this is very understandable [ being a weaver myself] ,, and ps as it happens `Double Dutch` is no trouble for me as well :>:>:>:>:>: I always thought this was a bit strange Phrase,,,,,, mirjam
These are wonderful! I especially like the Rock Pool and Orkney pieces. They make me want to get back into weaving, but with a cat that like to eat string (literally), well..... it'll be a while.
Thankyou for those, Bruce - really fantastic.
