OT - Americaon Idol - Can't Resist

OK - so I will confess, though I personally am not a junkie for much TV, DH loves this - and Hells Kitchen (which drove me nuts). Anyhow - I just wanted to say - this season, there really were a few quite talented people on the show. The guy from California, Adam Lambert - who though he may look a little out ther - is IMHO - amazingly talented - and also gracious - as he always, always remembers to thank the band, the arrangers, etc - and it doesn't seem to be a kiss-up thing. Obviously he grew up a drama/musical theater geek. Anyhow - I just downloaded the studio performance of "Mad World" from iTunes - so DH who was at a thrilling hockey ref associaton meeting til 11 - can hear it. Amazing. Really. Also, the other guy, Kris Allen - who is a very nice, talented guy - his studio version of "Ain't No Sunshine" - is really good. However, almost all season - no matter how weird Adam seemed to be going (well, in one performance it was a bit too bizarre) - or no matter how well the others did - when Adam opened his mouth

- a whole new level. So, just saying - this studio cut of mad world - pretty amazing - really.

OK - I'm done - had to share - 'but this actually had me close my eyes to just listen - even with only the little Sony speakers here in Mac World (I haven't burned it yet or put on the iPod).

Like your husband I watched the later American Idol shows plus Hell's Kitchen and I'm not embarrassed to say so! :) I agree Adam is incredibly talented, probably more so than Chris.

They are both very different personalities and come from different backgrounds. Adam is already quite successful in theatre having starred several musical. You can tell he's a professional.

Chris on the other hand entered the contest as a very shy performer lacking in confidence. He has bloomed and the judges has brought out his hidden talents.

I'm hoping the popular vote will make Chris the winner as I think he's needs the award to further his career rather than Adam, who has his already established. Maybe not the way it should go as far as talent is concerned but I'm hoping it does!

Funnily enough, he says that a bunch of his hockey cronies were ll talking about Hells' Ktichen in the locker room one night. I thought this season lessucky than the others. And honestly was okay with the last couple left.

Absolutely - though I'm not sure of the amount of his adult stuff - clearly they showed a bunch of hie childhood engagements.

Very true - and he is very talented. We actually predicted at the very beginning Adam, and Danny Gokey. I wasn't sure about the 3rd - and was glad to see Chris emerge so well.

Anyone who gets to the last handful has their career set. Heck - Simon produced an album for the not so talented but quite pretty Brooke from last year - wyo can play the piano but sings flat - as she demonstrated so well when they had her on as a guest this season.

I'm sure that Chris will have offers in abundance - he, Gokay - their futures are set in the music industry - if they can keep up with it. On the talent basis though, I think Adma is indeed the winner - he just has shown that ability to cross platforms - and has an incredible vocal range. As a singing contest - so to speak. But it is a popularity contest and who knows.

The studio cuts I downloaded of both he and Chris are really good.

Didn't really follow Idol after about the fifth week, but loved Hell's Kitchen (also Kitchen Nightmares and Ramsey's much gentler English show 'The F Word').

I don't think this year's competitors were nearly as good as the previous years - they really never learned to work as a team - but both finalists deserved to be there. What I find amazing is people like Lacey whose work ethic and attitude sucked. And it was being taped so prospective employers can see exactly what it would be like to have her in a kitchen. I suspect her career in the food industry will be very, very short.

Kitchen Nightmares - interesting. I like the British ones better, generally. But, I like the f-word best.

Yup, I imagine- unless someone is going to open something for her. The ones in the final were actually who DH had picked early on - they both were pretty mature, and stuck with it. What cracks me up is all these supposed chefs who smoke, and then wonder why their palates stink when they have to id foods or spices. Even on Top Chef.

I sometimes wonder where they find these people. They seem to choose the least sophisticated and leasst educated young chefs on earth. It seems to me to be the rare one who has any class at all.
