JIM JIM ,, you made yourself CLEAR ,, but you are expecting something , not so easy ,,, there are here and there some Imams , Kadies and other Religious Muslim leaders who preach towards this ,,,, but not enough...Alas, it is still not a General sweeping movement or Outcry. mirjam ...
Pat, what about the case of a priest overhearing a conversation? If he interrupted with a "You can't/don't want to do that" comment and was then told, "Mind your own business,"(or the equivalent), would he then be held to silence? What if the comment the priest received "You can't do anything about it." ? If no promise of confidentiality is asked or given(and I am guessing that if it is asked for, it must be/is usually given), is the priest then not able to notify authorities if he feels the general public is in danger?

Agreed, and do not understand why it is not being accomplished. I understand your angst.
Can Canadian authorities arrest thse individuals for sedition?
Agreed and understand fully your point of view. Dianne
Gee, something is working in the system. Alas!! :-))

I have no idea. As I noted, I think the media blew this out of proportion as to what actually happened. It ended when a Rabbi led a team of leaders from other religions, and declared the issue to have been settled satisfactorily.

The whole Pam Smart mess is a local affair for us - it happened the next town over. Pretty teacher has students for lovers, scheme to kill off hubby. Everyone confesses except her, all in jail, the boys may get paroled some day, she's still in special confinement (now out of state) as the local prison population gives her extra rations of grief.

I certainly wont say you are wrong, Mirjam, but there may be just a slight chance that you may not be right. I learned the right term on BBC World this morning. The Madrassahs of Parkistan were supposed to stop preaching hatred after 9/11, but they haven't. There is no pressure from within Parkistan for this to happen. However, things in the UK are different. If the Muslims do *not* reform, and there are some more suicide bombings in the UK, there may not be anything left for the Muslims in the UK *to* reform, after the ordinary British citizens have finished with them. Muslims in the UK are rather a minority.

Me, me me! And I bet Sheena would, when she comes back. Can you imagine a more terrifying team than us?

So have we (got glass in the door, I mean!) I don`t care if they CAN see me. If I don`t like what I see I just don`t answer it!
Pat P
LOL! I did say "any SANE European!"
Pat P
They don`t have the luxury of "deeming", Dianne - they`re under strict Church laws that they can`t divulge what is revealed to them in the confessional.
Pat P
If truly heard in general conversation, that`s an entirely different matter, and of course he can report it. It`s just anything told to him, deliberately in the confessional that he is strictly bound not to reveal.
Pat P
As an addendum, they just announced that the fourth suicide bomber was a man of Jamaican origin.

That reminds of the time the "Kleeneeze" man called and when I said "NO, thankyou!" made the mistake of putting his foot in the door not knowing that my DH was home for lunch.
"There`s the gate - do you want to go through it or over it?" said my rather large husband. Worked a treat - I never had any more visits from Mr. Kleeneeze!

The mind boogles!

I had a terrible time with religious doorbell ringers till one day DH was guest-preaching and we had his clerical shirt hanging on the cupboard, in full sight of the door. I pointed to it, explained that the church's Standard Employment Contract required me to be a member of that church, and they never bothered me again.
