OT: Nasty Sniping

Thank you Sheena for saying what really needs to be said. This is a group that is acting just like the schoolyard bullies that we all tried to avoid when we were little kids. It's odd that I know all about the health, welfare and non-related to needlework problems of these people, but it's not okay for others to do the same.

Unfortunately it looks like some people aren't happy unless they're making someone else miserable.

Killfiles are very useful for reading usenet. Not just for filtering people you don't want to read, but also for filtering threads that have subjects you might not be interested in. Better filters also let you mark threads or people that you're particularly interested in seeing, so they go to the top of the list when you open a group.

Us old-timers like to complain about how the quality of usenet has deteriorated, but I think it's actually about the same now as it's ever been. Any time you get a large group of people together, there's going to be friction. One reason I don't ever read web boards is that there's no way to filter the stuff I'm not interested in.

This is sooo true! The reason I left the group is that after all the filters and killfiles got their work done, there were only 1 or 2 posts per day that were on topic.

I had been hoping that was a spell the group was going through.

Start a topic and see the answers. There have been a couple of new people and a couple of problems (needlework) in that period that generated a very good response.

I have to say, it is not always possible, or desirable, to stick only to stitching, one needs some sort of mix. I only respond to odd questions perhaps about crewel, framing, gold work, but I read most of the posts anyway, even if they are not things I will doing, you never know when you might learn something about something than can be of use.

Remember, since there was woman, women have sat down with fabric and needles, created and chatted and not always about what they doing lol

It`s a shame that the killfile doesn`t prevent the "corpse" reappearing as part of someone else`s post!

Not more than Mark would miss me, I'm certain. I'm having a very hard time, but I would never expect anything from anyone, not ever. Expectations are a great way to set oneself up for unpleasantness.

Yeah, me too. How successful are transplants? You do the math then go shake you head off your shoulders for all I care.

Oh dear, you ARE in a negative spell, Vic. Over here transplants are pretty successful these days, so I imagine they must be just as successful over there!

Thank you Pat, I know where you heart is and I admire your honesty. The transplants are successful, but the survival rate is significantly lower. I'm being realistic. Hopefull I won't need it...then there is always the list and will I even get a liver. I'm okay with it.

My best wishes are with you as well, Vic! Us GOW's need to stick together, and I don't wanna lose you!

And I don't find anything morose about this at all. It's a fact of life that we're all on death row. Better to be ready than to panic at the moment of death.
