My cousin's daughter had the cyst and kidney removed today. Surgery was delayed a few hours because a kidney came in for a transplant case so it was done ahead of her surgery. The doctor thinks the whole thing was a blocked kidney and she was probably born with it. Total tissue and fluid removed totaled 35 pounds (15 liters of fluid). All went well and she is in recovery. The school counselor has tackled the grade issue and is coordinating a way to handle her assignments for the next month or two.
