OT: Story

This one`s just black wrought iron, with a fleur de lys finial, to match the Ogee arch. A friend gave me a winter flowering clematis (white) which will climb up it and we`ll be off to the Clematis Nursery soon to pick out a Summer one. I`m just HOPING that my Macropetala Alpina recovers from the brutal pruning John gave it last month!

LOL! Must be the season for BEEPs! A week or two ago I kept hearing a BEEP. I took the battery out of the smoke detector and still heard it. A couple hours later I found one in the basement that I hadn't even know was there. And I didn't feel like climbing up a step-stool to fix it when DH can just reach up to it. Of course, it took *him* a couple of days before he got around to it. sigh.

I did that while working in the food service deli line in college. The line suddenly disappeared except for the two German students who wanted their braunschweiger even if I was bleeding all over it!

Now that is SERIOUS selective hearing to be able to ignore that for a couple days!

In my experience, they always blame it on the dog anyway!!!

Having owned German Shepherd Dogs for the last 30 years or so I can say it was (nearly) always the dog...

My daughter had a wonderful bloodhound - who would frequently fart in the most IMPRESSIVE manner - particularly when they had company of course! My goodness, how the conversation has degenerated! LOL!

Having owned dogs all my life, and a husband for getting on 20 yrs, I can tell you that the odors are quite different! ;-)

Sometimes I do think he does it just to bug me. :) Seriously, though, he does have some hearing loss, esp. higher notes, due to working around jet airplanes in Viet Nam in the 70s.

Thank you Brenda i loved reading it although it must have been quite hard on you ... it reminded me of a Birthday card my daughter got ,,, the XXXXX thing didn`t stop playing "happy Birthday" for several days ,, we covered it we hid in in closet , under a cushion in a pot of water ,,,,, nada ,, than i asked my daughter`s permission , took a hammer and shut it off ,,,the card was lovelier without the noise .. mirjam

Nowadays we don't have a dog, all that walking in all weather is a bit too much like hard work. We were going to bring Wolfie (cross 'twixt German Shepherd & Irish Wolfhound) up here but alas he fell victim to cancer. We had no intention of having any more animals at all until the mice moved in after the harvest two years ago. However, since the arrival of our green-eyed white-furred cat, Surrey (named after Richard IIIs favourite horse), we have had no further problems with mice. I cannot say too much about aroma or lack of it - my nostrils are permanently blocked thus inhibiting smell and taste until I can get an appointment to see the ENT specialist in Aberdeen - but the _sound_ of Surrey is VERY distinctive!
