Re: Happiness is

You are right there. As a ;ittle kid in England I was a stamp collector, (still am actually) , and learned a lot more geography and history than probably the average kid. Pre-TV etc. In fact I have a vivid memory of the "wireless" talking of Italy, and I had a brown Italian stamp in my hand. Prolly ( for Sheena) about 7 years old.

Anyway, yes, it was Palestine, and they has their own stamps. I am not sure but for some reason "Palestine Free State" rings in the depths of my memory.

Dang, as Cheryl would say, I am getting OLD!

Huh. Maybe because it rymes with Palestine Mandate? There are calls now for a Palestine Free State, but there has not, to my knowledge (which is certaily fallible) been a Palestine Free State in the past.

Possible...but I was just a kid. I think UK/Egypt were involved. Way before you were born, my friend!

Got to realize I am going through a cloudy memory of the early 40s. I remember them being prior to the end of WW2 and the Exodus. I was also a little kid, born in 1936, so things may well be confused in my memory.

On the good side, I have a second-cousin ( adopted) who has located my one and only Niece. We lost touch about 14 years ago, She has all the birth and death records of my side of the family. I have the old family pictures.

Isn't this just wonderful??

I have just come home from Bible study, reading the prophet Hosea tonight, and at that time in history, Isreal and Judea were separate kingdoms, although both Jewish peoples. It is a very long history, and the relationships changed from time to time.

Didn't you already mention Christianity? I thought Catholicism came under that heading?

So, what do you want me to say? 'Catholicism is the only faith that contains mistaken, deluded or evil people?' Sorry. I couldn't say that. It wouldn't be true.

There's no way I can whitewash any of the atrocities done in the name of my faith. Why would I want to? Y'can't rewrite history! But we weren't talking about faiths, we were talking about compassion for one's enemy. This is something my personal morality encourages me to do - if it happens to align with the doctrines of my faith, well, then: GOOD!

I've never *ever* professed to be a good Catholic but I believe it's worth continuing to try. I admire anyone who can be a good Jew or Muslim or Zoroastrian or plain human being. If I practiced your unique brand of vengeance in my own life, I'm sure I'd become a dried-up, bitter old woman. I would not like myself very much at all. So, I make my decisions to suit what I believe is right. I'm sure you do the same and I have no interest in persuading you to do otherwise.

It's far too common these days, isn't it? How dreadful for the poor grandparents, who can only stand by and watch. The kid will probably drop quite a number of clangers before the penny drops (if ever!). Sigh.

TRISH ! i reacted on this part of your letter ......where you forgot to add your own faith while condeming some others.......

Yes. And likewise, how can someone claim to be a good Jew or Muslim or Zoroastrian and do likewise? Nearly all the 'holy warriors' have claimed that 'G*d is on our side'. LOL! If you believe in a loving God, then

- ah - no, he's not on the side of killing and hatred and revenge. Even if you *don't* believe in a Creator, it's hardly productive to prosecute a war in order to end a war! Duh! Wouldn't you think that'd be a no- braner?

-- Trish Brown {|:-}

I never said nore wrote such things, please stop putting words into my posts ... i reacted on the above part which i pasted here , from your own letter.

Intersting that when i tried to explain to you things like the name of Beth Lehem being a name of two words you claimed i was wrong , or that your version was the Proper one ,,

Thus why did you name the Jew , Muslim or zoroastrian ?????

I would and jope that all of us would try First of all to be GOOD HUMANS....

Excuse me where exactly did you see any vengeance in any of my words / writing ??? You are making that up. i wrote that the only justified killing is Self Deffence , and there isn`t a COURT in the world that wouldn`t agree with me. All the other things are your own imagination . I have never revenged anything in my life , my only `revenge` is helping others ,. but nobody will persuade me that compassion for Criminals or terrorists will make a better life or sense ,,, Of course since i only speak from experience. it has no worth at all .. mirjam

Actually, I find that part fascinating. I'll never toss an atlas, will even buy old ones because they are history in a picture.
