Re: OT: Peeves about websites

If I'm not mistaken that was a direct quote from Snoopy. Way back in the

70's I had a dog dish for my Toy Fox Terror that said "Don't Eat Yellow Snow." L >

Famous line from a Frank Zappa song too.

I have given up bothering to parboil them - for just one, I often roast a lamb shank. Cut nice sprig of rosemary from my plant, place in bottom of pan - put lamb shank on top. I then put dripping on the lamb shank. When the fat is all melted, throw in chopped up parsnips, spud and carrots. Make sure you roll them all so they are coated in the fat.

Meal in one dish, nicely roasted and tasty with meat over for Monday lol The single persons roast of meat.

I wonder which came first? They both were clever enough to say something like that.

Probably something like that. I wish I could remember if the dog dish was his when he was a puppy or when he was older. Gee, I must be really bored today because what a silly thing I'm wasting brain power on! lol

I've actually been doing a lot of oven roasting . I was listening to the woman who does "The Bountiful Table" IIRC on PBS, and they were talking about the 450 degree oven. As in walk in the door, turn on the oven to pre-heat, and roast something. Layers of veggies, or just a mix, etc.

So, I've done several mixes of onions, sprouts, parsnips, carrots, whatever is around, even with potatoes - on parchment paper (key item) with a drizzle of olive oil, some coarse salt, some herbs and voila. The parchment makes it easy to dump it all into a serving bowl, and easy clean-up.

Really, in the end, one eats far more tastily and it is so simple that it takes minutes that's all. I find it more trouble to read some packet directions about how to use a fast food that doesn't taste so good and has god knows how much sodium and other undesirables in it. No wonder people are having intestinal problems, they should go back to proper eating - end rant !

In winter I loooove stews. Stick them in the oven in the morning, nice aroma in the afternoon and tasty one dish meal ready to take out of the oven at supper time, can't be beat.

Hmm, I was just thinking of doing a stew - but it's too late now. However, I think this weekend I'm planning on making some authentic Green Chile stew, and maybe a nice beef daube. We'll see.

Actually, honey may have health benefits that sugar doesn't have. Consuming local honey can lessen seasonal allergies.

It is also interesting that it never goes bad, honey from centuries ago is good to go.

I've read articles that say honey is better for you and articles that state there isn't really any difference and, therefore, I still feel if you like it fine, if not I doubt it will make much difference in your health.

As far as local honey and allergies, that I never read about so I'll take your word for it.

Please make it two places; I will make mint sauce, not the gross jelly stuff here. Man, I so miss lamb!

Home-made mint sauce from mint in the back garden. Locally grown vegetables. And washed down with a pint of home-brew - perfect!

Just drooling LOL. I have some mint and other herbs which I hid under the shrubbery this summer (also African Violets). In Florida, it is deadly hot in the summer, and I figured I would find dead stems after 5 months. To my joy, this Wednesday on our return, there were purple basil, mint, chives looking great, and four of the African Violets were thriving.

BTW I did buy some lamb ( not good Scottish), and roasted it in the RV this summer. Served it with all new veggies from the farmers market.

Gillian!!

So chuffed today!
