By "new" do you mean modern? If so, no - I don`t much like modern buildings - I`m in the middle of an old Tudor Hall, though - nearly finished it really, but was sidetracked onto something else!

I LOVE the old timbered buildings - so interesting both to design and stitch, and we have a lot of them around here! Also there`s usually a lot of old trees surrounding them, and colourful gardens, so you get a nice lot of variety. You can often use a well placed tree, shrub or climber to hide some of the difficult angles, too!!! Pots of flowers are handy for that, as well - Artistic licence!

Aha timbered ,,, there are 2 places where i saw Stone building where stone parts `imitate timbers , one was somewhere in Belgium .An old Border castle built by the German people who ruled the place. "Limburg ' was under various rulers. The other is here in Haifa, in the part that was built by the Tepmpelars who built colonies in varios places in Israel. A flower pot as a Nice solution for too complicatecd a detail , i like that !!! very clever idea. From time to time i see this BBC program about making gardens in tiny places ,, real cute and very innovative ,, thus your idea is great ... mirjam
