pretty sad here. I had to work last night, and couldn't bear to watch the late night replay, even though Saskatchewan had played very well, especially for a team that had been 9 point underdogs.
The Special Teams coach came out to meet the press after the game, and shouldered all the blame for what happened, which was pretty courageous. After all, he was not the only person who was watching the field, and there must have been other people who could have seen and warned the extra player. I suppose there was just so much commotion. Whoever the player was, this coach said clearly it was his responsibility, and that took guts. All year, they have been a "the team wins, the team loses" sort of team, rather than individual stars, although there are some very good players.
Ah well, Saskatchewan used to be called "next year country", so I suppose next year it will be. They are a good team, and more than that, after a few years when that wasn't the case, they seem mostly to be good people too. There was a picture of the head coach on the front page this morning as he walked across the field at the end of the game--it would break your heart to look at his face.
