Things looking up!

The pessimism that struck me earlier this week is lifting!

I'd taken out Mirabilia's Cinderella to finish while waiting for the fabric I ordered to arrive.

I swear that wench didn't want to be finished. Several components had disappeared while she was in UFO pile (she landed there in late January). One skein of floss was gone, and naturally I couldn't find that color in any of my other handy projects. Just needed 1 length to BS her head, arms and foot. One spool of Braid was gone..needed it to BS the floral part of her dress.

I swear I bought the 7 required packets of Mill Hill Treasures for her, but when I started to add them I came up one bead short...and a search of the house has failed to turn up that missing packet.

However....

I did find enough of that color to BS her head, and the spool of braid turned up.

And a 10 mile bike trip to LNS resulted in me having the last treasure required.

It also resulted in my finding Mulberry Linen to do Bagatelle on. I'd wanted either green or a burgundy, mulberry is pretty darn close to the color in my head!

So...Cindy will get finished (if it kills me) and Bagatelle can be started as soon as she is!

Yea!

Oh well done, Caryn - and I bet you feel heaps better for that! We actually had a day out today - the first that either of us felt up to for a LONG while, what with one thing and another. It was a beautiful, real Summer`s day - so off we went driving around the countryside - ended up in one of our favourite villages, having fish and chips on the green (You know exactly where, Sheena!) - explored our very favourite china/glass/country-wear shop, which had opened two more rooms - and nothing was where it had been before. In fact I started to panic, as I couldn`t find the stairs back down from the top of what is a really old building - several hundred years old - and rambling!

Had they not changed everything round, I would have known exactly where I was!

Bought a few bits and pieces - another little pot with a lid to add to my growing collection. I think that the attraction is that you can just hide little bits and pieces in them without it looking untidy!!!

On the way home stopped at a craft and fancy goods place with a tea-shop attached - and they`ve opened up a new shop too, card making, beading, stamping, glass painting, etc., with a rather nice assortment of beads - must visit there again. Then a farm shop - spent more money there too. Checked out the likely houses we might make an-offer-they-couldn`t-refuse if we ever win the lottery! There are so many in that area - huge old Tudor and Georgian houses, obviously rambling and probably haunted! Good subjects for cross stitch designs, in any case, although NATURALLY I`d forgotten the camera!

Anyway, we`re back home and happily exhausted.

Glad to see you and John got out and about on such a beautiful day. I'm famous for picking up little unique boxes that take my fancy - 'must-haves' of course - it's great fun to troll shops like that. Keep up that good feeling, you too.

Sharon (N.B.)(who plays Amarillo every day - I get such a kick out of it and the tune just never leaves your head) ...( really like that guy in the green towel- hmmmmmmmm ... wonder where that lovely speciman is from) :-)) ............................................................................ ............................................................................

Sounds like a fun, if exhausting afternoon!!

I love to play the "if we won the lottery" game when looking at big pretty houses. Course around here, you don't get many of the older ones. Small clusters in town of houses built during Victorian era, but not much that is a lot older. I'm assuming that a lot of the older plantation type houses got burned down during our Civil War.

Not to mention, that this area was not all that developed until recently.

Glad you and John had fun, would love to see the photos you take when you go back!

My daughter and I went to a bead show last weekend, it was the second time it had been held, but we did not know about it last year.

It was amazing, lots of stalls, all sorts of beads and related items for sale. My daughter bought a bead loom and beads to use with it. We were both taken with strings of semi- precious stones, and each bought some. Amethyst, jasper , fresh water pearls and lots of .others. we bought threads, beading needles and findings. Lots of fun, and brand new stash. Still fondling it, nothing made up yet, but will be great for gifts.

I can post URLS if any Aussie is interested, most will post orders. Marie from OZ
