What a beautiful area to travel to! I enjoy going to Banff/Lake Louise at least once a year...it's only a 3 hour drive from here and oh, so worth it. DH and I spent our honeymoon in Waterton National Park - the other side from Glacier.

Absolutely astounding. I don't know how they're going to rebuild anytime soon. Or, even if it's possible. We're talking billions in new levees.

I can't possible imagine what the peoples of this area have gone through. And will go through for the foreseeable future. Tens of thousands of lives have faced major upheaval and financial devastation.

I'm delighted you made the time to go there. It does show pretty clearly what the area suffered, and you can now see why I figure it will take a decade for it to recover.

I think a decade is too positive an outlook. Hurricane Andrew did so much damage that, years later, there was still a mess in many parts. At least by accounts I've read. It's not just the rebuilding, it's the economic loss so many people face (i.e. no flood insurance, job displacement).
