Well, the peace and quiet is over and so is the stitching time

Demitasse and espresso cups are the same. However, you can also get "shot" glasses for straight espresso.

How about the pouring the spillage back into the cup?

Beer from a pottery mug? Never tried that, might have a go tonight.

Bertuzzi, that's the one I was thinking of, nasty bit of work. Yes he was charged and I believe paid a fine of some sort but he has cost the other young man his career and I believe I heard not only is Bertuzzi back but they justified putting him on the national team.

This is why I have no further interest in sports and especially not the Olympics. It is no longer the game for fun, or to see who is best. Young athletes ruin their lives with weird enhancing drugs that don't show up in drug testing, all because too much money is at stake, money and fame I suppose.

I'll try to take in some horse jumping in HK but that's about the limit of my interest now. I grew up at a school that emphasized "It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game" and it's too late for me to learn the "Coming second doesn't count" theory.

I thought of this thread when I was driving home just now. A**hole on a bike passed me, waaaay to much noise and he had grossly elevated handlebars. So there he sits, feet stuck out in front, hand raised up to the handles and from the rear he really look crucified. I am sure he thought he looked hot, I just thought he looked like what he was a**hole. I would have passed him and yelled that at him but he would never have heard it over the noise so it wasn't worth getting in the wrong lane to do it.

What I see quite frequently here are parents who ride a bike (pedal) with a little carriage towed behind with a baby/toddler in it. I can't imagine who is trusting enough of other drivers to do that to their child, I would be for a ban on that. In a second that child could go splat on the asphalt.

It's strange, we need thousands of hours to become a hairdresser, then state boards, then license even to wash a customer's hair. No license or training or anything on how to raise children, or how to be a responsible parent, or just human. I guess for that we remain thankful for whatever our parents teach us about being human.

I've often wondered what the Victorian "pulp fiction" was like.

Miss Thing, get with the vernacular; that was a chopper hog! I agree about how ridiculous it looks and my experience with real biker dudes is that they are disgusting, and all the rumors you hear are true. They are thugs, into drugs, and killers. I'd be happy to take a healthy liver out of one of them. Unfortunately, health, and liver are not two words I put together for chopper riders.

I thought demitasse were like miniature tea cups, slight taper, and espresso were straight sided.

I think he did it just to drive her crazy.

And you know about my dead (now a smallish lump of bones and fur) skunk that died in my garden. I see lots of wildlife.

Who knew ? I thought he was just an oddity, a one off. The whole mess looked very unstable.

In NS people appreciate an urban skunk in the garden. You know they are there and don't bother them and they won't bother you but while they are there neighbourhood cats steer a wide path round your garden and somebody else gets the poop.

I wouldn't have minded him/her sticking around, BUT, the week before, I put the recycling down the night before and when I walked down in the morning, it's all over the place and partially dragged in to the culvert under the drive. I keep hearing this noise - a grumbling hiss - when the skunk pops out of the culvert to defend the prizes - cleaned/washed tuna tins. Walked funny and no fear of me. I dropped and walked back up the long way to call Animal Control; it either injured or rabid.

Poor thing - skunks have bad rap.

Rabid? Wow! We don't how lucky we are in the UK to be free from rabies; folk complain about the compulsory quarantine regulations but they're well worth it. And up here there are no predators on the island so all farm creatures (hens, geese etc) can be left out at night.

Here in Ottawa, there are dozens of these sort of things. Maybe we are lucky, in that there are hundreds of kilometers of bike paths, which double as cross country ski trails in the winter.

My grandmother, born and raised in Italy, along with my grandfather had different cups for demitasse and espresso. The demitasse were shaped like tulips on top and tapered slightly at the bottom. Espresso was in a slightly larger cup and was always accompanied with a saucer which was also full of espresso to be slurped up. The slurp was part of the tradition! Those cups were cylinder shaped, so straight sided. Different spoons too.

No, I didn't know. Was that a big PU going on as well? I think you should know by now, but our yard is certified by Texas Parks and Wildlife as well as World Wildlife Foundation backyard wildlife habitat. We even have a water snake in the pond! Very small.

I am so torn. I love winter up north, but now with heating being a modified form of rape, how does one afford heat? I would love to cross country ski. I wish this was the winter Olympics.

Then again, I also like to be nice and warm in the sun all winter.

It's called a beer stein. Quite popular among my people. ;)

Sure you did - you even told me not to move it myself in case the stink gland popped. Didn't smell to bad - all the rain really accelerated the rot.

I've thought about doing a backyard habitat.
