2007 Resolution Quilty Projects

Okay... I'll be the first to ask...

What are your top 3 projects (quilty related -- not necessarily sewing -- could be reorganizing sewing room, putting all your books in a spreadsheet...) that you are determined to complete this year.

Mine?

1) A quilt for my mother-in-law 2) Snowball quilt 3) Finish several UFO's (Amish row-by-row; batik block exchange; purple BOM quilt; monsters quilt) -- all are well under way... but got stalled out!

So now it's your turn...

Just 3 now!

  1. Finish ONE applique quilt, preferably a UFO

  1. Compile a list of all the little tips I pass on during classes but never think to write down anywhere to hand out in printed form

  2. Get organised (and motivated) so I can spend more time sewing in the short periods between life's little interruptions instead of waiting until I have a big block of dedicated sewing time (never gonna happen!!)

I want to try to speed up a little! I plan to finish some quick things - only a couple; then some that will take a little bit more work; and, finally, spend some happy days actually drawing four or five quilt designs that have been in my mind for ages (I need a bit of space in my mind!! - I'm getting forgetful) . No resolutions, except to sew something every day. Even if it's only a couple of stitches! Roberta in D

The top 3 projects for this year:

  1. Finish quilt for nephew.
  2. Make WH for sister.
  3. Make quilt for friend in Canada.

I'm also aiming at a nice blue & yellow quilt for MSM, who puts up with my neglect of her when I am quilting and listens patiently to my whining when I'm not quilting. ;-)

I have two wedding quilts that I have to finish, one is Snail Trail with the colors arranged to look like ocean waves (at least that's the effect I'm going for) and a Bento Box quilt for my husband's co-worker. Then there's a Lazy Girl Summer tote that needs finishing, my cat quilt.... I could go on....

determined to complete this

  1. Finishing my granddaughter's dorm quilt before her Jan. 23 birthday. I think I'll make it. I'm ready to put on the binding today!
  2. Catching up on RCTQ BOM blocks. I need to do December's and January's. I plan to make my mom a quilt from the finished blocks.
  3. Catching up on Carol Doak's Home Sweet Home Row quilt, which is an on-going project right now on her Yahoo group. I also need to do the December and January rows for that.

(I started the dorm quilt right at the end of November, which is why everything else for December and January has been neglected.)

Ooooo --- that sounds like a GREAT list to have....

Maybe you should start a new thread of TIPS and SHORTCUTS .... we could cut and paste them and save them! That sounds like a way we could all share our little tricks!

Only 3! I'm not sure I can handle that.

But here goes!

1) organize the books/magazines in the sewing room 2) buy less fabric and use more stash 3) finish at least one quilt.

Three of my 2007 Quilt Related Goals, in no particular Priority:

  1. Organize and keep tidy the sewing studio, to include discarding un-needed items.
  2. Start and/or finish quilts for certain charity and family members, to include UFO projects.
  3. Fun ... have fun!!!
  4. Break Rules, including the Top Three Request! ;) LOL
  5. Practice! Strive for improvement in all techniques, especially HQ.
  6. When taking a workshop, go home and work on the project/technique while it is still fresh in mind.
  7. Fun ... have fun!!
