American Rotary Model R40

Hello, I am trying to find a 'threading diagram' for my machine, an American Rotary model # R40. A friend gave it to me a few years back and I never checked it to see if it worked until now. All I found in the cabinet were some bobbins but no instructions on how to thread it or how to advance the bobbin thread. I don't want to harm the machine if I did it wrong.I also need to know how I use the machine to thread the bobbins. I hope someone can help. Thank you.

All recent home sewing machines thread up basically the same way, so you just might go ahead and try it. I did a quick web search for "american rotary sewing" and didn't turn up a company or a sewing machine. Would it be possible to put up a photo of the machine at a free website like picturetrail.com? Someone might recognize it as a clone of a Singer

15, 99, 127 etc (there was a thriving business in "clone" machines imported and badged for various local stores under various names -- a little bit like how many of Sears' Kenmore machines are Janomes in disguise).

The other thought I had was to ask on the yahoo group "wefixit" -- it's a group of "shade tree mechanics" of sewing machines, with a tremendous depth of knowledge on mechanical sewing machines.
