Batting

Does anyone have a source for the least expensive way to get a somewhat puffy poly batt? This is for "Quiltus Gigantus" that I'm working on for my son. The quilt will be 18x24feet. I think the easiest will be to get the rolls sent to him?

Kathyl, have you looked at Batt Mart and also at King's Men (which is

? Another thought - you might be able to find a better bargain by using really cheap fleece or garage sale blankets. Two other suggestions: one time I made a cover for an RV. We put my SM outside and I got help. Lots of help. Sewing a seam 24 feet long isn't really that big a deal except for supporting the weight. That's when you need somebody to share the fun. Polly

Ahhhh....King's men....that's the one I couldn't think of. I have BattMart saved. Now I can compare. Thank you! I didn't know if our longarmers had any other ideas for large quantities of batting. The cheap fleece or blankets won't work as well. He wants the puffy effect of a thicker batt and we need to keep it as lightweight as possible. I have this project broken down into 12 6'x6' units. I'll sew them together in pairs, then into a couple 4 patches. I should only have one long 18' seam if I do it right. The others will be 6' or 12'. Whoopee!!! I had DH laying out my blocks and teehee.....ironing the seams! It was fun to see him working on this.

I know I'm three days behind on this but my parents bought a roll of 120" poly batting to put on their HQ16. They said that when they took it out of the bag it expanded so much that they couldn't get it on the bar to hold it. They had to put it on the floor until they used some of it up. It was pretty puffy and the price was pretty reasonable too. They got it at Marshall Dry Goods.

I bought a roll of Hobbs from them but haven't had a chance to use it yet. They have great prices on fabric too. I've bought a lot of fabric from them.
