It rained here a lot today so after finishing my June blocks, I also managed to make the pieced and a paper-pieced July blocks! You can see them at

Wow! Those came out very nice Carole! The paper pieced nearly looks three-dimensional with that fabric, and you really have to look to see that it is kitty-cats!

Good job!

Those are great!!! I'm hoping to finish up paper piecing project blocks tonight and maybe start on the BOM. I do have the July blocks printed out.

Thanks! I LOVE that paper-pieced design! I tried to find the darkest cat fabric I had to contrast with the paw print fabric.

Thank you. It's getting to be a challenge to figure out how to get the right contrast with all cat fabrics, but I'm determined! :) If it hadn't been rainy today, I wouldn't have gotten caught up because I had outdoor activities already planned.

I should have gone outside this afternoon when the rain stopped but quilting was calling my name. :-)

Great blocks! I love the fabric choices and the result is just gorgeous. Now a question: where do I find the BOM? Sunny

Here's the most recent posting on BOM. Around the first of each month Dannielle posts the new blocks and includes the past months BOM as well.

Happy 4th of July to those of you who celebrate it! I'm thinking that some of you in the US will be enjoying a long weekend for the holiday and might be wanting something to do!

How this BOM works is I will post block patterns each month near the beginning of each month. One is pieced, one appliqué and one paper pieced. It is up to you which one (or ones) you would like to do. You will work at your own pace over the course of each month. You keep your blocks. You do not mail them to me. At the end of the year you will have twelve blocks to set into a quilt. You keep the quilt. You do not mail it to me (unless you really feel the need to give me this gift!). You will then have your very own 2006-2007 RCTQ BOM quilt. When I announce a month's block patterns, I will also include the previous months' as well so if you decide to join along the way you will have all the blocks. Pieced blocks and paper pieced blocks will be 12" in size whenever possible and appliqué blocks will be whatever I can find that is available. Feel free to size up/down if you so chose.

This BOM will run from April 2006 through May 2007. This is how the schedule breaks down: =============================================================== April 2006 - March 2007: Monthly blocks April 2007: Completing the Top (setting, sashing, borders, etc.) May 2007: Completing the Quilt (quilting, binding, labeling, etc.) - Done!

that rates the level of difficulty of her block patterns. One pin blocks are fairly simple and they increase in difficulty as the number of pins increase. I will start with one pin blocks and increase our difficulty as we go so that we are challenged, but not overwhelmed! I also consider myself a fairly novice quilter, and these will all be blocks I would be willing to try (well, maybe not the appliqué). Most of the blocks with only have three colors to them; however, some of them may have four.

Those are awesome Carole. I love the way they look almost 3-D. You did a great job.

They're really great, Carole. I don't think I would have noticed the cats if I hadn't heard them mentioned here! Such a good idea. . In message , Carole-Retired and Loving It writes

Thanks so much! I guess the 3-D look comes from the design of the block because it certainly wasn't intentional on my part. Carole in Northwest GA - Retired and loving it! Homepage -

I think that when all the blocks are put together there will be NO DOUBT that it is a quilt full of cats! The sashings will be a black fabric which has multi-tonal brown/tan paw prints!

Carole - those are lovely. I can hardly wait each month to see what new cat fabrics you will use!!

It's always a surprise to me, too! I have such a ridiculous amount of cat fabric that I seem to have an endless supply. However, I don't have a good assortment of dark, medium, and light values, and often that's what really makes a block stand out. I'm determined to use the cat fabrics, though, whether each block is exactly right or not.

Maybe I can help that dark, medium, light issue. I too have a silly amount of cat fabrics. Wanna swap? Email me if you're interested.
