Crayon embroidery/quilting

What works best and how do you get it bright? Suggestions? I know Crayola brand crayons work better, but are the fabric crayons even better?

TIA!

Actually, the Prang brand work the best. They have more pigment in them. None of the crayon stuff will be bright-bright. But you can do several layers to get more intensity. (Color, press face up with a couple of clean white paper towels over it. Then repeat until you get a more intense color.) Remember that if you blend 2 colors before pressing they will sort of "merge" or blend as you heat the wax out, but if you color over another color you may not get the blending effect.... experiment on scraps.

Have fun, Pati, > What works best and how do you get it bright? Suggestions? I know

Try an artists' supply store. They are a bit more expensive, but well worth it.

This site will give you retail information.

Plugging 'prang' into google will also give you plenty of retail and mail order locations.

BTW, Prang is made with soybeans, it's edible, yum! You can munch on a Prang while you lick the Elmer's School Glue off your fingers. Have a little chocolate stashed for desert and you'd never need to leave the sewing room for a meal. ;)

Thanks for the Prang tip. I'm doing a hand quilt on labor day for a church group. This method works really well.

Happy quilting,
